Konami has revealed Silent Hill: Ascension, an interactive streaming series coming out in July 2023. Here’s the teaser trailer:
There’s not a lot to go on right now, but Silent Hill: Ascension promises to allow groups of viewers to decide how the story unfolds, perhaps somewhat similar to the choose-your-own-adventure Black Mirror episode that is available on Netflix. However, Konami goes beyond that to say that this will mean “the entire community shapes the canon of Silent Hill.”
The production is led by Jacob Navok of Genvid, with input from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and other partners.
Silent Hill: Ascension is one of a bevy of other Silent Hill announcements. It turns out that a lot of the rumours and reports over the last few years were true, and Konami has farmed out Silent Hill to a number of developers and multiple games are in production. There’s Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Team, a game from No Code called Silent Hill Townfall, Silent Hill F, a discussion of the Return to Silent Hill movie, and more.
