New Battlefield: Bad Company 2 DLC will introduce co-op multiplayer gameplay to the popular FPS. Dubbed ’Onslaught Mode,’ the new content consists of four existing maps tweaked with new content such as added vehicles and different lighting, and can be played by up to four players. The quartet of areas to support the new collaborative play are: Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes, and Nelson Bay.
Dedicated Onslaught leaderboards will also be on hand, proudly displaying the best individuals who “work/kill well with others.”
EA are also putting a strong emphasis on the importance of team-work as part of the new gameplay, while each map will cater to specific game types. Atacama Desert will be vehicle-centric, for example, while Nelson Bay is crafted more toward infantry support.
Patrick Bach, Senior Producer at DICE, said: “We’re thrilled to bring something new and fresh to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 while still keeping Battlefield’s signature gameplay intact.” He added: “We want to consistently support the over 4 million fans playing the game with new ways to get into multiplayer and also challenge the elite players with new experiences to improve their performance online.”
A release date is still to be confirmed, though the nebulous “soon” has been quoted.
