PSN Store Update: 16/06/10

It’s your E3 special, folks, as alongside your usual helping of cheap goodies and discounts is a massive rack of E3 trailers, both for PS3 and PSP. There’s loads of trailers today, and a few more tomorrow – some are listed, but expect a few surprise trailer releases too… =)

Tales of Monkey Island is my personal highlight, though, I’ll be grabbing that as soon as the sun goes in and my big fat pizza belly wears off a bit.

  1. Some nice HD trailers to watch there :D
I wona see the Sorcery video to show my friend though :(

  2. What a brilliant way to further aliennate PSP GO believers.

    • I take it you mean MGS?
      £17.99 from play.com;
      http://www.play.com/Games/PSP/4-/10296349/Metal-Gear-Solid-Peace-Walker/Product.html

PSPgo games are a farce IMO. less of everything, yet costs more?!?!

      • Third-party game, Price set by Konami.

Case in point – ModNation Racers. First-party title, much cheaper digitally.

Can only apologise but I can assure you if it was up to Mike it wouldn’t be £31.99

      • Not really sure on pricing of MNR’s, but either way, that sort of price for a digital copy is mad, when you can get the EXACT same game for less (including case and manual). 3rd party or not. I would of thought Sony would have made some sort of pricing percentage rule for publishers as the PSPgo was in development. So a digital version can only cost, for example, 60% of the current retail price. then gage the reaction, then carry on or holt work on the PSPgo. as it stands, the GO, is just an expensive way of portable gaming. the pricing structure has killed it!

Look at iTunes, that only became a viable shopping option when they slashed the prices way below the physical CD versions. Now CDs are a lot cheaper to combat this and gain sales (a few years down the line), but noone bothers now as the digital way is easier and quicker and still slightly cheaper. So i would say around 70% of people no longer use CD’s and are download only… The same path Sony want the games market to take.

Do as is done/expected from digital media and you’ll get the success of the iPod, do as Sony are doing and get a failure like the PSPgo

      • Lest ye forget that digital music used to be more expensive than CDs.

    • “Look at iTunes, that only became a viable shopping option when they slashed the prices way below the physical CD versions.” lol, think ya missed that bit of my rant ;)

As people are used to digital media with music and film, they are also used to the pricing and the exception that digital costs less. be it via Sky Box office to rent a film instead of going to Blockbuster, getting a Album off iTunes compared to shops, and now getting games from PSN instead of stores… people expect the pricing to be better, and i think that is the main reason the go is a flop

      • The 1st Party game pricing is competitive because it is SCEE’s chosen price point. Publishers set their own pricing, there are lots of reasons for this which I can’t go into but if you use your imagination I’m sure you can work out the main problem. iTunes didn’t just suddenly cut it’s pricing on a whim, there was an industry-wide agreement surrounding the normalisation of pricing of digital music. Until retailers agree something similar within the games industry the pricing of third party titles probably won’t come down because of the reliance on retailers to shift copies.

I promise you it’s not as simple as just saying “Sell it at this price” because if it was there wouldn’t be a problem.

And I am a PSP Go owner so I am in the same boat as you and I am just as livid about the price tag, believe me.

      • Thats the point i was trying to make… Sony should of got together with publishers and arranged a price before they started developing the PSPgo. Then the games may be a more attractive price. I don’t own a GO for the reason of the game prices, i have a launch day PSP and thats all good.

      • What has happened to the sale of CDs since iTunes normalised its pricing? How many high-street music retail chains have lost profits and got into trouble financially? The resistance came from the high-street, not the music producers and digital distributers. See where I’m going with this analogy…?

  3. I’ll be downloading all the E3 trailers together with the Monkey Island trial and the Everybody’s Tennis demo, so it’s a good job that I’ve got unlimited downloads on my broadband package!!! ;)

  4. I think I’ll give Monkey Island a try.

  5. ohhh MDR stuff.

  6. Battlefield: Bad Company 2
    ◦Kit Shortcut Bundle Pack (£13.99/€17.99)

Should be £3.99 i believe. Either way, earn it yourselves you lazy sods!

    • It has more in it than the sum of the 4 individual kits – I know it has all the Vehicle unlocks as well and some other bits and pieces, hence the price hike. Also I agree, earn it yourself! I had to! You don’t know you’re born….

    • yea the fun is in actually earning them , totally agree . I was even a little sad that with my limited edition i was given 5 or 6 of the early ones when i would have preferred to have worked for ’em.

    • rofl this is a sham.. half the point of the game is to xp and get these for yourself..

  7. Anybody Know what the ‘Trust Fund pack’ for Dirt2 is?

    • Thought it was something different but it’s just an unlock pass.

  8. Jesus 31.99 for peace walker glad I sold my go for a 3000

    • Your absolutely right, as a PSP Go owner myself there’s no way I’m paying almost double the price when compared to online retailers selling the UMD. A bit of a joke if you ask me.

    • Yeah silly price point just a rip off

  9. is section 8 any fun?

    • I hope so, I just bought it!

      • lol, theres a review on here somewhere

  10. EyePet PSP? Crazy.
