FIFA 11 Sacks Manager Mode

EA Sports has announced that the Manager Mode found in FIFA 10 is to be axed in favour of ‘Career Mode’ for FIFA 11.  This new mode will allow you to play through a footballer’s career as a player, player-manager and then a manager. A brand new transfer system “brings the ups and downs of the transfer window to life” while the new calendar system means it is easier to plan your career and manage your squad.  Players created using the new Creation Centre will also be available to download into Career Mode.

In an interesting twist to the transfer system, you not only have to agree terms with the club, but the player also.  This means you can be put in the position where the club says yes, but the player says no for whatever reason.

FIFA 11 is due out for Xbox 360, PS3 PC, Wii, PS2, DS and PSP on October 1st in Europe.

  1. WAT?

I only play the manager mode, I think everything about be-a-pro sucks and this sounds like a vast enhancement of that

Anyway, if the control scheme’s right, the Wii version sounds the one to buy this year, as it comes combines FIFA 11 with FIFA Street

    • Yeah I heard that the Wii version has 5v5 indoor and outdoor matches. Also theres different variations like defenders v attackers and you can even change the size of the goals. Wish PS3 and Xbox versions had that.. Although I must say Fifa 11 Wii’s graphics are shocking :)

    • You don’t have to play the be a pro career part, you can just select to play as a manager. There are three options that i think are:
1)Play a career in a be a pro player style as a player
2)Play a career in a manager mode style as a manager
3)Play a career in a be a pro player style until retirement and then move into a management.
So you can still play manager mode :)

      • Who honestly play the player through to management mode? I could barely play 2 games of MM let alone 20 seasons!

      • I get the game on day 1, fire up manager mode, choose Leicester and play it non-stop till the next FIFA comes out. i check online to see if its still full of quitters, which it always is and then return to MM

Can’t see the point of anything else in the game

    • MM is the only mode I play too. Oh and they can forget about the online modes!

      • Im in 2 minds know as i really only play MM and the occasional TSA meet matches

  2. I’d rather they just fixed Manager Mode, soooo many bugs and glitches in it.. This to me at least doesn’t sound encouraging, it sounds extremely random..

  3. Thank goodness! MM in 10 was an absolute bug ridden joke, even Pro’s master league took dumps on it. I like the sound of this career mode so far and i’ll be keeping an eye out for more info.

  4. As long as the player mode doesn’t force you to play it in Be A Pro style, I think this is a great move. It’ll be interesting to see how it all turns out anyway, as manager mode in FIFA 10 was horrid.

  5. they needed to change something so this is really good, for the past 3 years the fifa games have been pretty much the same. still i rented fifa 10 for a week i then bought it, i played it more during the time i rented it. nevr completed manager mode properly ony simmed the games because its so boring. its only fun if you play with someone, because the servers r so crap online is impossible. still this sounds a gd thing to introduce but i would say more is change is neeeded. maybe create a team (like i 07) and be a pro is really crap now.

  6. Does this mean you have to play though 15 seasons as a player till you can manage a club? Or will there be 22 year old player managers at Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal now?

I only play manager mode, As I find be a pro boring after a few matches.

    • no the post should say (i think) player, OR a Player manager OR a Manager

  7. I enjoyed MM in Fifa 10 but that’s probably because I switched from the PES side of the pitch. I’ll probably still get Fifa 11, 10 was a lot better than PES and I finally had enough being let down year after year. No longer, looking forward to Fifa 11.

  8. We need a game with a transfer system like Football Manager, at least that way it’d be more realistic. I hated the transfer system in MM in Fifa 10 and it immediately stopped me from playing.

    • Totally agree, I stopped playing MM for that exact reason and moved onto my beloved FM. =D

  9. Isn’t there a new transfer system in every FIFA? Well as long as its not like Football Manager 2010’s system, in which it was impossible to buy any player without creating a second Manager…

    • Really? Were you trying to buy Messi with Rochdale?

      • Haha probably. If your having trouble buying players try increasing the offer but pay in 48 months of monthly installments.

      • Thanks I might try that…and no it was Luca Modrich and Aiden McGeady with Manchester United…They just wouldnt except…

      • Im suprised about McGeady but Celtic aren’t doing bad financially and they said at the start of last season he wasn’t for sale so SI would have that in for the start of the 09/10 season.

With Modric he goes for no less than £36m at the start of the game. Im my saves he always goes to Barcelona for that much.

Another tip is to try unsettling players by declaring interest. You’ll find it sometimes forces the clubs hand.

  10. So can I now sign to be the manager of Northern Ireland and lead them to the dawn of victory after years of experience managing Manchester United?
