Rumour: Killzone 3 Betas Rolling Out Early

Although the official Killzone 3 beta doesn’t roll out until tomorrow (as part of the PSN Store Update) for PlayStation Plus subscribers, rumours are surfacing this morning that some lucky Sony Beta Testers have gotten an email with a code for the beta already.

You’ll remember that, if you’re not one of the chosen few overnight, you’ll need to do the following to try to grab your own Beta key:

  • Sign up for PlayStation Plus
  • Be one of the first 10,000 to grab the exclusive theme from the Plus section of the Store when it goes live tomorrow
  • Check your email on October 25th

Sounds simple, right, although those 10,000 places will go really, really quickly tomorrow.

We’re currently chasing up whether or not the Beta Testers key is locked into some super-secret hush-hush closed affair, in which case we won’t be able to report on it until the screen is lifted.  Regardless, you can read our hands-on impressions of Killzone 3 here and here.

    What time exactly does the PSN updates. I’m working from 8am – 4pm tomorrow :(

    • Isn’t it 5’oclock?

      • t is normally 5 but sony could just put the theme on the plus section before the main psn update. Seeing how the plus update was last week i take it at a guess that is what will happen so it could go live any time tomorrow.

  2. i finish at 3pm, im going to be chomping at the bit. got the playstation set up for remote play from my phone. hope it works haha

    • Euh, according to this article it isn’t…???

      • the public beta (sign ups start tomorrow) is for plus subscribers, the private beta mentioned in the headline is for beta testers only

      • its a closed beta not a public beta if it was a public beta it would open everyone not just PS+ members

      • If it was accessable to everyone wouldnt that be an open beta?

      • it’s open to everyone….IF….you are a suscriber, therefore it’s not an open beta. It’s open to those who pay for it basically.
        Before P+ came out, everyone had the chance if it was an open beta, now, they don’t.

      • Private = Specific people
        Public = Anyone but limited numbers
        Open = Unlimited

      • @ Bilbo Yeah that’s my point, it’s open to members of the public who are plus subscribers; I thought that made it a public Beta. An open Beta would be for everyone, and a closed would only be for Beta testers. My head hurts now, I need tea.

      • i like the controls i dont want them to change the only thing that pisses me off is it takes ages to turn round i just wanna turn round quicker in KZ3 the controls are fine

      • And make it more like CoD? No thanks, it is indeed getting quicker, but hopefully not too much like every other FPS out there. It just makes the games the same with a different skin.. Killzone stands out different, or did at least. The actual button controls can be changed in the in-game menu, so that’s kind of moot.

      • I loved the controls in the demo, but when I played the game about a year ago at a friends house, I hated them. I wonder why…

  7. Unless I get it someway without PS+, then I’ll just keep it fresh until Feb ’11. So it’s a win, win really. I can wait a little longer.

    • Not fair! Im a PS+ member and been part of many betas before but no code for me :(.
