I’m going to forgo all the fluff and nonsense. Here’s the deal – a Killzone 3 Beta will be happening as of October 25th; to stand a chance of getting in you need to do the following:
“Step 1: Be(come) a Plus subscriber
With the exception of a handful of key media partners, access to the Killzone 3 Public Beta Trial is exclusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers. If you’re not enjoying the many benefits of Plus membership yet, now’s the time to sign up!
Step 2: Download the theme
On October 13th an exclusive Killzone 3 XMB Theme will hit the Plus section of the PlayStation Store. Only the first 10,000 PlayStation Plus subscribers to download this theme will receive access to the Public Beta Trial.
Step 3: Check your email
If you’re among the first 10,000 to download the Killzone 3 XMB Theme, you will receive an email on October 25th containing the Public Beta Trial promotion code and further instructions. The email will be sent to the address you registered as your PSN Sign-In ID, so make sure you’ve set your notification preferences to accept emails from SCEE.
Those of you who make it into the Public Beta Trial are expected to provide honest gameplay feedback, report bugs and glitches, and help test our network code in real-world scenarios. In short, we’re counting on you to help us improve Killzone 3! In return you’ll get a good taste of the multiplayer mode, including its brand-new ‘Operations’ game type, party system, and jetpack and exoskeleton vehicles.”

It’s stupid. Basically, if you have a Job, or go to school; you wont get it. Only allowing the first 10,000 people is ridiculous. I think this is more of a marketing project for PS+ than it is a beta for KZ3.
It’s a shame, I was in the KZ2 beta, played KZ2 for a few weeks, then decided I didn’t like it. I’m put off KZ3 because of KZ2, and I was hoping the beta for KZ3 would have given me a taste of it, and I may have found that I liked it.

I want to play this game very, very much but I refuse to purchase PSN+ on the unlikely event of being accepted. No way no how.
PSN+ currently offers me nothing at all.

Some small print on Killzone.com eludes to the fact that ‘media partners’ may have a key giveaway as well
Anyway, I’ve got in loads of betas when a website is giving away a load of keys… and many thousands/millions more people can access a website than are sat in front of the PSN AND be PS+ subscribers… the number will go further than people think, and then there is the chance that the usual faces will have a key giveaway if you miss out.

that’s no secret, it was stated in the replay to the 5th comment on the source. That PS+ won’t be the only way to get your hands on the beta.
