Bantam Books has today announced that it will publish a novel based on the upcoming survival FPS/RPG hybrid, Dead Island. Penned by Derbyshire-born author Mark Millar, who has also worked on Doctor Who and Torchwood in the past, the book will launch on the same day as the video game release.
The content of the novel has yet to be discussed at length, though it will follow the struggle of four protagonists, quite possibly the same four who feature as playable characters in Dead Island.
“Having marvelled, like the rest of the world, at the stunning trailer earlier this year, I absolutely leaped at the opportunity to write the official Dead Island tie-in novel,” Morris explains. “This is a rich, exotic world of well-conceived characters, stunning locations and all-out zombie mayhem. What really attracted me to the project, however, was the fact that behind the nonstop action is a complex and multi-layered plot. I’m hugely excited and massively honoured to be a part of the Dead Island phenomenon.”
Dead Island is due to launch on September 8th, the novel hitting shelves at a RRP of £6.99.

These game-novels really are the latest craze aren’t they? I personally think that there are lots and lots of fantastic novels out there worth reading. As I live in Oslo, Norway, I felt really bad going into my Gamestop shop to order “Dead Island” yesterday.
I think I’ll refer to it as “that zombie sandbox game due in september” from now on.

Oh that’s bad just like Motorstorm Apocalypse when Japan got hit by earthquake but that was near the release time and “that zombie sandbox game due in September” should be all right in 2 months

actually these days isn’t it more newsworthy if a game comes out without any other associated media, like books or anime or a toy line.
still i’ll give it a read one day.
