Wii U Price And Release Date Next Year

The Wii U won’t be getting a release date or a price until at least next year, says Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata.

The news shouldn’t really come as any surprise: E3’s message was confusing and nobody really knows what’s going on with the new console – any attention this year would distract from an already faltering Nintendo 3DS which is  just about to get a large price cut.

Iwata’s message came as part of an investor meeting. “Since the Wii U we showed you at the E3 show in June was still in the development phase without very specific proposals on the software titles,” he said, “we are going to announce the release date and the price next year when we are able to explain the specific proposals.”

Jolly good.

  1. I’m not too keen on getting it anyway :1

    • same hoping we see the big guns at E3 next year showing the real next gen.

  2. I cant help but feel this console is going to be a disaster and could even be Nintendo’s last (thats not a handheld)

  3. Looks ambitious but ultimatey I’ll still always pick my 360/PS3 pad over some gimmick

  4. wii pooo!!!!!

    • grow up?

      • flip sake lighten up.

      • Poo is funny…

      • I concur. Flatulent excretions of a bottomly nature are profoundly amusing. Maybe TheRook21 is actually Scott from South Park?

  5. If i was 7 years old I would be pissing my self at night with the anticipation

  6. Rapidly losing interest.

    • Same here

    • I think they announced it too soon really. The whole thing is so vague and clearly still in development, I’m also finding it hard to stay excited about uncertain concepts with no real information.

  7. Ninty need to pull something else out of their locker other than a Pilotwings/F-Zero/Starfox/Zelda/Mario/Mario Kart remakes. Core fans have already bought them all 10 times & the casual have had their fill.

The fact only one controller can be used, limits the fun in whats supposed to be fun social environment and whilst supporting Wiimotes is a great idea to aid upgraders the limited tech has already peaked and new gameplay styles will be held back by the waggle

  8. Couldn’t care any less, the wii was in my opinion, a fad, it was fun for all of 5 minutes, and then boredom kicked in.

  9. Give up Nintendo please.

  10. Am really afraid for Nintendo!
