WipEout HD Broken
Got friends? Chances are WipEout HD won't work on your PS3, then. Article written by nofi in PS3 News, on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 19:16.When we were testing the final version of WipEout HD yesterday we simply assumed the online portion of the game was disabled, and had to play it signed out of PSN. Turns out it’s still broken, but it’s actually because of some bug with the friends list - if you’ve got more than 50 friends, the game will hang on the menus, and you won’t be able to race.
We’ve not verified this 100% yet, but it’s simple: if the game is crashing, delete some friends or play the game signed out. We’re assuming a patch is forthcoming, but, seriously, this is pretty shitty.
Update: yep, we’ve just deleted 30 or so friends, and now the online portion is working…

Also, no SD support? Not even un-widescreen? That’s nuts nowadays.
And one last bitch, in your trophy collection next to “Uncharted” or “Burnout Paradise” is a great white box labelled “WipEout HD Trophies”. Call me pedantic but is saying Trophies really neccessary? Way to mess up my organisation

Hmm, the trophy thing would annoy me too!
Does anyone else deliberately launch then close games so they’re in the order you like them in? I like Warhawk at the top… please God let someone else be doing this too!

As someone who has 73 friends, WipEout HD and the trophy for 10 online games (ask me for my PSN ID if you need it confirmed) I can safely say this isn’t true, at least not for every player. Personally I’d try adding all my deleted buddies back, and see if it wasn’t a serverside issue that coincidentally fixed itself while you spent 10 minutes working out who on your list was a pleb.

Hmm, I have 73 friends and just spent an hour clocking up my first Online trophy for ten games. I don’t think this is actually a widespread issue.

i’ve only got a few friends on there at the mo but noticed but despite my bro getting some times in a speed run i couldnt seem to see him when comparing my times to my friends’ times.
