Oh man, it’s like Haze all over again, except LittleBigPlanet isn’t a derivative, generic first person shooter. Despite what we were told yesterday, it does appear that Sackboy is running a little behind, and will now launch on the 31st of October, or perhaps even later, according to rumours floating around this lunchtime.
Which is fine, really, because there’s loads of other stuff to play in the meantime, but for those of us with review copies and no way to go online until the retail servers go up, the wait is even worse…
We’ve asked Sony for clarification on this, but right now this is strictly a rumour.
Update 1: could be as late as Mid-November. Still no reasons, but rumours abound of a recall…
Update 2: could be a recall, apparently there’s a song on the soundtrack that ‘could be offensive to people with certain religious beliefs‘.
Update 3: we’re now being told by readers in mainland Europe that the game is being recalled from certain retailers. Again, this isn’t confirmed yet.
Update 4: right, we’re not posting more about this, but we’ve just seen this, and we don’t think it’s right to speculate further. We’re told that SCEE will issue a statement shortly, and we think it’s best that the issue is dealt with via a proper press release.

I’ll stick to my guns and say that because LBP is to be released alongside Home, it isn’t LBP that is delayed but Home.

It’s unfortunate that we (may) have to suffer a delay and even more unfortunate for Sony who have to fund a possible recall.
It is a case of PC gone mad again but in todays climate is it more costly to Sony to recall the product or face the media backlash if they don’t recall it?
Either way it’s completely ridiculous.
If anything proves that video games are officially in entertainment mainstream, it’s this.
P.S – You never know, Sony might just not do anything and we all get to play next Friday

If I’m getting this right, the problem is a line which isn’t deemed inappropriate in the Qur’an, has been used in a song, where it hasn’t been deemed inappropriate, but know its in a video game it’s gotta be recalled? Soooooooo frustrating if true

If you look at the posting above – the person in question is only asking for it to be patched and that FUTURE releases not feature this.
Mind you – all releases of LBP are technically still FUTURE as no-one should have a RETAIL release until 21st! So maybe Sony are looking to respond. The more you think about it – this is a case of damned if you do – damned if you don’t!

if the game delays due to that song with arabic lyrics in it im pretty pissed.

I am praying its not true, If its delayed by 3 weeks that puts COD 4 Resistance 2 and LBP all right on top of each other regarding release dates and that means all the dev’s are gonna lose out on sales if this is the case,
