Gran Turismo 5 Gets UK Release Date
Plus, it looks like there won’t ever be an F1 license for the series.
Plus, it looks like there won’t ever be an F1 license for the series.
Mark your calendars now for the 27th of November, 2009. That’s when you’ll be able to get your hands on Gran Turismo 5 in the UK, according to Play. We’ve checked our usual Sony press sources and there’s no confirmed date from them yet, but the 27th is at least a Friday, so let’s hope it checks out. We’ll continue to keep an eye on this but we’ve heard recently that both version of GT, 5 and the PSP one, are pretty much done and ready to go, so a late 2009 release does hold some weight – here’s hoping.
In related news, Codemasters must be kicking themselves because the F1 license is dead. Autosport writes that following a four-hour meeting at Renault’s Enstone factory, Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, BMW Sauber, Toyota, Brawn, Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso said they had grown frustrated with the FIA’s stance on some issues and had decided to create a series of their own. I don’t follow F1 so have no idea of the implications of this, apart from the notion that Gran Turismo 5 is probably safer sticking to the WRC and NASCAR licenses it has already picked up.
Via GAF.
Update: GAME are saying late September.

F1 could go down the pan
I’m not sure where that leaves the £150m re-development of Donnington (near me) either.
Just as well I don’t follow it I suppose.
I’m not sure about GT5, I’ve gone off the series after becoming hooked on Burnout (Revenge I think)
GT3 A-Spec was perfect, but 4 just bored me… and 5p again was boring
Bring on Burnout Paradise 2

“GT3 A-Spec was perfect” waaaaaahh????? The best in the series in order are: GT2, GT4, GT1, GT3 (GT5P would be in there around GT4 but as it is only a prologue it isn’t)
I have had this on pre order from Play since 6th May 2008 LOL, at first I thought this wasn’t news but checked older emails and the previous release date was the 25th Sept. So a change to the 27th Nov is an update, hopefully it is accurate!

Just to add my noise to the chorus: I thought GT3 was the best in the series. I loved the rally modes and it was just great fun, that didn’t get bogged down with as many cars as GT2 did.

Looking forward to this game. Glad to see its finally got a release date.
As for F1 I think it may be posturing and that a solution will be found over the weekend but if not then F1 may well be dead in its current format.

Apparently the 8 teams have cut off all talks now!
Don’t blame them as I think Bernie and Max have been ruining F1.

3 of those are legal bound to be in F1 though (Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Ferrari).
Also all the tracks bar Silverstone and Monaco are bound to F1.

The whole situation is so complicated now. I agree Max and Bernie need to back down but they are too stubborn. I still remain hopeful it will be resolved but it looks less and less likely the longer it drags on.

F1 will not be the same without the major players in it, but if they do then it will be interesting.

Shame about F1 next year. end of an era. Anyway, GT5 will be excellent with damage etc, but personally I am more into the fun side of racing now. GT was good for the first two, but after that it got too samey.

Actually the new championship may pave the way for games to license it, and possibly cheaper than F1 licensing. If they sort it out quick enough they could even get it into GT5 or patch it in later

Never been a fan of Gran Turismo…just not really that big a racing fan, the only ones I ever got into were Burnout, Pure and a few older F1 games.
Plus there’s too many other good things coming out in or around November.

Fantastic, really can’t wait, especially before Christmas!
Hopefully it will be worth the wait.
With regards to the F1 license, surely Codemasters will be able to cancel the agreement if Fota start their own rival series. However I presume such loopholes are covered. I still can’t believe codies havent been able to put together a PS3/360 version of the game this year.
