Are you a lead character artist? No? Want to be, hmm? Do you want be one for Sucker Punch and work on what we can only assume is inFamous 2, because the team have “got big plans for the characters in our next game, and you might be the person to help put those plans into action.” A new job listing on their site suggests Sucker Punch are hiring for a follow up to PS3 exclusive inFamous, if a qualification for “current urban style and street fashion” knowledge is anything to go by.
“We’re looking for someone who can do expert-level character modeling and texturing, while simultaneously managing a small characters team. If you’re up to the challenge, we can guarantee your work will be seen and enjoyed by millions of game players. The Lead Character Artist works with the Art Director and Creative Director to shape the design and appearance of characters in our forthcoming AAA title, then leads the team to realize that vision. This position emphasizes the ability to make a big impact doing character modeling and texturing, while leading a small characters team.”
It’s only the urban style bit that’s making us think this isn’t for Sly Cooper, unless the crazy platforming racoon has gone all hipster on us. They’re also looking for an Art Director that knows about “lighting”. inFamous had lighting – it was really dark lighting, but it was there. See? Confirmed.

Nice, I would apply for it but don’t have the money to travel. I still haven’t played inFamous but I suppose another one wouldn’t be too bad as a lot of people have told me they enjoyed it.

I wonder how they’ll handle the gaming law that all lead characters learn to swim in the sequel.
Electricity and water don’t mix

that would be an interesting game:
character jumps into the river, lots of sparks fly, dead fish and main character float downstream. game over.

Maybe he gets into BDSM and is covered head to foot in latex rubber for the next game?

Could be the follow up to the incredibly long titled:
Mark Ecko’s Getting Up : Content’s Under Pressure.
featuring Cole from inFamous as his sidekick? Urban and lightning = mystery clearly solved. ;)

Even if Sucker Punch didn’t develop that game it doesn’t matter. They could pick up the sequel.

Yeah, me too, and I really hope SP listen to feedback and really try to move things along for the sequel, as I thought the first game was really good overall but lacking in a few areas.
I would like more optional depth to the plot, a city with distinct areas and a bit more character and some better physics in the game world (i.e. proper rag doll to start with). Perhaps Cole could acquire an additional power or two, like you-know-who had.

No, the boss from inFamous! I’m trying not to give too much away as we can’t spoilerise text here.

It makes financial sense to develop a sequel whilst the game engine is still relevant.
Massively cuts down on time and development costs, it will still probably take a couple of years anyway

What a dream job . Can’t do 3d modelling but sketching and drawing game characters would be awesome. Some of the artwork for games like Uncharted, Prince of Persia and Assassins Creed were stunning.

I was going to trade inFamous in this Friday to buy FNR4, is the general opinion of I shouldn’t and finish playing it? I dont get much gaming time, I’m still on the first island!

The game has a lull in it’s middle section but has a really strong ending, with some great story missions, awesome powers and an excellent plot.
If you can stick it out I would suggest trying to finish the main story mode, but if you really don’t like it you probably shouldn’t struggle on for another six or eight hours or more.

It really does pick up and gain momentum on the second island with some great powers and plenty of great missions.

My hope is the inFamous series will turn into sort of a franchise. What I mean is, I think each inFamous game should focus on a different character, possibly with a different power, but with the same karma mechanics.

No way; we need to know what happens with Cole – they set up perfectly for a sequel, with the revelations at the end of this game, and Sucker Punch obviously want to stick with the cast and premise they’ve created.

I think it’s too late to do that now. They have to finish off with Cole first.

they should do it with a few characters first with the same ending as the first one and at the end they should be a game that shows what heppened to them whether character change or just pick one at the start

I thought that.
Would be pretty cool but I reckon they’ll stick with Cole.

its going to be the second infamous. anyone who completed the game could tell their going to make a second.
and i think we are going to get ****** power’s because ****** is *** from the ******. I managed to get my point across with out ruining the plot.

Sorry but these days plenty of action games and films leave the ending slightly open for a sequel, they don’t always get one. If inFamous had totally flopped or been universally panned, they wouldn’t make a sequel but they wouldn’t have known that was going to happen when they wrote the plot.
