Is SEGA Working On A Daytona Remake?

We don’t know where the image originally surfaced, but it was picked up on the Sega Nerds Forum and from there it took just over an hour before someone matched the NASCAR-esque vehicles and a big bend and declared that “SEGA RACING CLASSIC” will be a remake of the famous Daytona arcade game, hopefully (as the decals would suggest) from AM2 too. Whether it’ll eventually come to consoles is academic until someone confirms that the image isn’t just fan-made fabrication.
If it’s true, and it is coming to consoles, OMG.
