What a week! We’ve had one of the most hotly anticipated games of recent memory released this week; we’ve got (so-called) actors getting in on the gaming action and we have some old friends come to visit the chart.
UK PS3 Chart: Week ending 17th October:
Bet you can’t guess what’s at number one? Ah, who am I kidding; it is of course the awesome, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. This is no surprise but I can also reveal that in America, it has become the 3rd fastest selling PS3 game ever. Early figures are showing that by the end of week one, Drake’s newest adventure will hit 1 Million units sold, which will make it the 4th fastest selling PS3 game Worldwide. 1 Million in a week! Well done Drake and I tip my hat to you, Naughty Dog. The first person to mention Halo and its sales gets a slap!
In other chart news: smug-face clown boy, Jack Black (as you can tell, I am a real fan) has added to Brtal Legend’s success with it entering the charts at number 6. Also new this week is Fallout 3: GOTY Edition; I like to think that this had something to do with it! ’Batman Watch’ – The PS3 version hits number 8 but I think you will all be interested to know that Batman: Arkham Asylum has shifted over 2.5 Million units in a month! Nice one Rocksteady, good to see a UK company getting up there with the big dogs.
UK 360 Chart: Week Ending 17th October:
So, in the absence of anything remotely ‘Drake’ associated, what has been getting the 360 stirred up? FIFA 10 scores number 1 again; that’s 3 weeks in a row for those of you who are counting. Brutal Legend is the XBox’s highest new entry, in at number 4 and Fallout 3 GOTY Edition also enters the 360 charts, one place below its PS3 version, at number 6. Award for longest game name goes to Star Wars: Clone Wars – Republic Heroes, which jumps into the chart from number 11 to number 9.
Interesting Note: If you look at this week’s charts in an ‘all-format’ way, FIFA 10 has sold so well in its 3 weeks since release that it would be sitting at number 1 with Uncharted 2 sitting directly below it. The surprise of the ‘all-format’ chart would be that Halo 3: ODST has been outsold by Brutal Legend and numerous Wii titles to take 9th place.

Correct me if I’m wrong because I have not played it, but I think they wouldn’t have worried due to it being a ‘fun’ title. I get the impression that it doesn’t take itself too seriously…if you see what I mean!

Yeah, I’m also glad to see it doing relatively well. Hopefully next month I’ll be able to do my bit to keep it in the top 10, though R&C: aCiT is out next month – decisions, decisions!

Looks like some very fair charts there, just one thing though. Which daft pillocks are buying that new star-wars. The controls are the worst I have ever played (in the demo) and once I had completed the demo I was relieved I didnt have to put up with that s**t again. Ewwww, Nasty game!
I understand that it was just a demo but still, it was that bad you wont ever catch me buying it if it were a fiver!
A real shame coz I am a star wars fan and would love to get my hands on another game if it were any good.
If I were to review it I could imagine myself giving it a 4 or 5. Yukky.

heheh, so you aren’t going to buy it then?! i might rent this, with the free rental voucher from cokezone soon, and maybe ice age 3. HOW is inFamous still there? AND batman >>? i liked batman first time i played arkham asylum, but it has got old on me, so i’ve stopped playing it.

It is starting to mean a huge title which is expected to do really well at retail and get rave reviews but that’s not /really/ what it means.
For a publisher a AAA title is one which they are going to put their marketing behind and give a big push. The meaning is shifting slightly because it’s becoming more and more likely that the only games which are perceived as brilliant are the ones that are heavily pushed by the marketing teams.
So everyone thinks it means a great game but it actually means any game which is hyped and marketed out the ass. Shame really but who needs labels anyway?!

The big story this week has to be that Mario And Sonic at the winter Olympics isn’t at Number 1. Or even above uncharted – maybe it’ll be a slow burner but Sega were claiming on COD:MW2, Fifa 10 or Sonic and Mario could be christmas number 1 – it’ll need to up its game.

Charts are looking good. Got myself Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend 2 and Fallout 3 GofY Edition. Still got Operation Flashpoint and I haven’t got aorund to it lol. Too busy playing Uncharted lol

I know, and us Brits are crazy with footie. But when an actual gem comes along like Uncharted and it doesnt get to number one because of an annual update, its a bit wrong – ya no? But as long as it gets good sales numbers its good.
