There’s plenty of news flying around from a recent Sony presentation uploaded to the web, and whilst the fine details are being sifted through by the TSA team, I can share one snippet of information with you. Sony seem to be looking at bringing non-game software to the PlayStation 3, as on slide 39 under the heading ‘5 Key Advantages Of The Ps3′ is the statement “Q2 FY2010: Release non-game software development kit”
Interesting, what non-game software (or Apps) would you like to see on the PS3?

Speaking of PDFs, a PDF reader application would be very handy on the PS3. Plus all the usual extras, basic calendar.
One of the unexpected pleasures of iPod touches and Symbian based phones is discovering that you can actually find applications to cover most of your needs, even if you never thought of your phone/ipod as serving that purpose. I’d love to see that added to the Ps3.

Hmm.. an interesting idea, what would I like to see? options for different internet browsers (firefox or chrome maybe?) an itunes intergration app (or any media client for that matter) to make it easier to stream music during games from sonewhere other than your PS3. maybe a news app? or a twitter app

I agree an option to use a different browser would be most welcome as the existing one is a bit clunky to say the least!!

one of those fake fireplace things, or a fishtank.
a pdf reader for the ps3 would be cool.
what i’d really like is for sony to set up something like xna but for the ps3.
they did the same thing for the ps1 and 2 so it’s about time we got some indie games for the ps3.

Worrying that it also states ‘new revenue stream from subscription’, lets hope thats not what I think it is?

Suggestions else where are that it could be MMO related or a “super” psn subscription service.
I can’t see them charging for services which are currently free as that feature is probably helping to shift a lot of ps3s

What?? Apps? Mmm Skype would be nice… But seriously… It is a gaming console… Why don’t we keep it that way?

That’s progress. My old Nokia “housebrick” in the late 90s made perfectly good phone calls but I still like the way I can now get picture messages and take photos with my iPhone.

Well many people to day only use their computer for some surfing, emailing and some lite word processing. If the PS3 can do all those jobs really well, the PS3 could become a very neat cheap and flexible solution for many people.

Well, it still is a gaming console. They’re not taking anything away. But given the choice, would you turn down all this extra stuff?
I wouldn’t

If a 360 emulator was possible – it would solve a lot of problems, personally I want a spirit level.

Sounds like a great idea. Would be nice to have an App Store like I have on my iphone. Apps that would work on ps3 in my opinion would be facebook, twitter, skype, youtube video downloader, etc..

Some apps I’d like them to put up for download -
utorrent… I jest.
A Twitter app would be really useful.
A customizable decent RSS reader.
An improved web browser (I’ve read the Firefox article).

So i just read the PDF, and in reading the context of the document it is pretty clear that if they meant Qore, they would say Qore.
They are going to charge, FUCK.
It better be for a rental service or something because even on their game boxes they advertise FREE ACCESS to playstation network.

Cool, a sleek ‘cover-flow’ style Media-server app – now that would be very cool (apologies to PS3MS, I do love you but it’s no XBMC & I know it’s not your fault)

The headline is confusing. It’s hinting as if it would be an Apple’s deal so App Store for the iPhone would be available on the console.
