Sony recently unveiled its plans for an iTunes-esque music store for the Playstation Network and what with the recent Video Store addition, the PSN is looking more and more like a one-stop shop for all your entertainment needs.
Sony Vice President – Kaz Hirai – has now said that Sony expect the PSN’s revenue to breach $500 million by the end of 2009. If this becomes fact, it means that the PSN has seen a 300% year-on-year increase.
Due to the fact that we are, no matter what you think, an unbiased gaming website, we can point out the PSN’s flaws, but we can also recognise that it is an amazing service; a service that is truly coming into its own as of late. The money is well deserved and hopefully it will result in an even slicker service in the future.
Movies? Check. Music? Check. Games? Check. DLC? Check. Themes? Check. Wallpapers? Check. Free online gaming? Check. Trophy syncing…oh!

Nope, I require a dedicated app for it. I simply can’t deal with it being in the browser. I also need one for my PC. Or possibly a plugin for TweetDeck. Man that’d be awesome.

:O Maybe I can get the “non-gaming SDK” thingy that leaked last week and develop my own dedicated PS3 app. You’d be able to order pizza, Subway, comics and games and you’d be able to manage your LoveFILM account all from the same app. It would be perfect!

I just want to check as im not big on economic & money terms – what does ‘revenue’ mean? Is it profit or just the ammount of money theve collected as that could be a big difference…

Revenue is the total money that has flowed through their hands. The profits on half a billion a year is not to be sniffed at.

Speaking of trophy syncing, why is that not an automatic process yet? I trul don’t mind doing it randomly,but it just seems like something you shouldn’t have to do. Also,I wish you didn’t have to perform the sync process so that facebook would post your trophy information.

I want GTA patched so if I’m having a pizza, burger, drink, sex with a hooker, in-game I can then hit a button and order delivery of the same thing in the real world.
