Before you read on you should probably know that, on this subject, I am a fan boy. A real, blatant, unashamed fanboy; so please be warned that the following post may appear a bit sickly. Something happened last night that has compelled me to write a public outpouring of appreciation and gratitude to Sony and Santa Monica Studios. As you can guess by the title of this post, I played the God of War Collection.

Now, Davs is going to be bringing you the review of the 2 games in their re-vamped form so I don’t want to get into that territory, but what Santa Monica Studios have achieved, in my opinion, is nothing short of genius. If I’m really honest, they could have released the games in their original state and I still would have been happy; but now in HD and on Blu-Ray, it’s become even more of a must-have series.

In fifteen weeks they have managed to take my favourite gaming franchise and give it a whole new lease of life. There are still a few moments that remind you of the previous generation but these are quickly forgotten when enough blood to make an elevator in the Overlook Hotel jealous, fills the screen. So far, having not completed either yet (i’m not that big a fan as to miss out on precious sleep) there are no bugs, no glitches and no detraction from the brilliance that is God of War.

I am somewhat sceptical of most things these days so I thought I would do something different and make this public thank you. It just goes to show that when they are on the ball, Sony really know how to execute something. I hope this is a sign of things to come and that other classic PS2 or even PSOne games get this treatment. Ico or Shadow of the Colossus in HD, anyone?
