If you follow TSA religiously, as some do, weirdly, you’d know that Call of Duty: Classic, the HD port of the first Call of Duty game, made a surprise appearance back on November 10th for an hour or so. If you missed it, and want to get in on the ‘retro’ action (the game doesn’t play anything like MW2) we’ve had it on good authority that the remake will be available to buy this Thursday on the PSN Store and tomorrow on Xbox Live Arcade, for everyone.
Previously, Activision had said that only those spending crazy amounts of money on all manner of ‘hardcore’ editions of MW2 would get the Classic version, but now it appears the exclusivity, like most things these days, was for a limited period only.
Thanks, BoyDay.

As someone who got in there while on PSN for a few mins I can recommend. Though a lot harder than I originally remember on the PC this is a good brother to MW2. Also be good as there might be more people playing the online ranked games.

I’m pretty sure they said it would be released on the stores at some point ‘after’ the release of MW2. I think 402 mentioned that in the comments for the prestige edition unboxing on his site when I asked about it. I played the online a couple of times and it’s pretty good, although there were very few people playing. Also for the PS3 version
at least, the aim and shoot buttons can only be mapped to l2/r2 which seems odd when this has a) never been on consoles before and b) is a completely different layout to CoD4 and MW (and most other games!). Still it’s worth the money…

I hate FPS games and COD. But i downloaded this game and i love it!
Is it different to most modern warfare (i.e. easier?) or have i just not given the franchise a chance?

I was one of the “call of duty classic few” and saw it actually on the PSN store for that fleeting moment that I will forever hold dear to my heart …. anyway it was £11.99
