Rockstar Games have today released a brand new trailer for Red Dead Redemption. The follow up to the much underrated PS2 and XBox game from 2004 (Red Dead Revolver) is looking better every time we see it.

In the trailer, we see the lead character in the game, John Marston doing plenty of horse riding and gun toting in pursuit of a mystery character that goes by the name of Bill Williamson. Running on a heavily revised version of the GTA IV engine, Red Dead Redemption looks impressively polished, while providing epic gun fights and slick production values. If the voice acting is half as good as that in GTA, then Rockstar should be on to a winner.

Also, at the very end we see that the game will be released on PS3 and XBox 360 on April 27th, 2010 (if all goes to plan). If this video is anything to go buy, Red Dead Redemption should be very high on the TSA 2010 Game of the Year list. Expect to hear more about the western themed game in the coming months.

  1. I can’t watch it :(

  2. Looks nice, i can imagine this is quite a bit like Call of Jarez

    • no way it will be a lot better.

      • I hope so, I was quite disappointed in CoJ, but I’ve been pinning my hopes for a decent western on this..

      • I’m with you there, I’m glad I held off on CoJ, this looks a hundred time better.

The CoJ “quick draw” mini game in the demo was just plain annoying.

    • Call of Juarez was awful – IMO!!! This will be completely different

      • Im with you, it was terrible! I played a couple of chapters and sent it back to lovefilm

  3. It says april 30th at the end not 27th :S
Also looks awesome, especially as it’s from the makers of gta

    • Yeah i just noticed that too…

  4. Even though i really didn’t like GTAIV at all, I still have a large amount of faith in Rockstar as a developer and as a result have been looking forward to this title for quite some time, Looks like exceeding GTAIV graphically.
Having enjoyed other western themed games in the past (particularly Gun), This is potentially my second highest anticipated game after Heavy Rain next year.

    • I loved Gun too, although scalping seemed like an unnecessary feature just to make the game more violent. At least have some kind of reward for collecting 200 scalps or something :)

I always liked the idea of a good open world western and Gun was great for that, I never played Red Dead Revolver though, was it good?

      • Sandbox games and western themes seem like a match made in heaven to me, Red Dead Revolver never really felt like a Rockstar game to me, a bit too arcadey and too little story. I did like it though, worth an eBay punt if you can still play PS2 games. If I rememeber rightly, it’s pretty hard though. It did had a targeting system like VATS in Fallout 3 some time before Bethesda knocked that one out.

    • I loved gun.It could of done with a bigger world and more side quests but what there was of it was cool.

  5. Wow. This looks fantastic. One to watch.

  6. Its a good trailer.

  7. I just had 80 tsa now i have 30 why??!?!?!?!?!/

    • farting on the comments section will not be tollerated…

      *FARPP*

damn, bet i lose 50 points now (me an my big mouth)

      • You fart out of your mouth?

  8. Well that looked good! High hopes for this as rockstar only seem to get better and better with their games, and a western GTA sounds great to me :)

  9. Awesome!! Cannot wait to play this lil’ beauty!! Oh and Darksiders :)

  10. Excellent trailer, maybe Sony can put this on the store instead of the seriously gimped trailer that’s currently on the store?

  11. Looking ace. I’ve been interested in game for a while, even more so now lol.

  12. I am looking forward to this a lot, I loved GTAIV and this looks great, the one worry I have (not having played the first) is how the story will have enough to fill it out. In the city environment of GTA there is always going to be something, but in vast open spaces this could be tricker to fill out.

    • Thats the problem Gun had to be honest. Lots of riding across the map with nothing to do until you reach the town

  13. This looks awsome.. I’m looking forward to getting this when it is released.. There i go again, wishing my life away, waiting for the next great game to be released..:D

  14. Thank god its not coming out in March!
