From the 4th of January the MAG beta, which has previously been invite only and a little bit ‘underground’ will, like the Wombles, be wombling free. From 8am GMT on the 4th the beta will be global and open to all to give the game its final stress-test before the network code is signed off by a tall man with a cheap suit and a clipboard. Tick!
The beta, which will end on January 10th (at 8am GMT again) consists of a 300MB install, a 40MB patch and a 2GB data download. If you’ve still got any bandwidth left after all that you’ll be in the game and shooting lots of people you don’t really know for a good few days. Existing beta trialists can download the latest patch (taking the beta to version 5) from 1pm GMT today.

The maps are massive and the battles are well organised, I just hope this lasts until release.

Oh I forgot all about this. Have had the beta for what must be 2 months now and keep forgetting about it. I tend to load it up at the weekend when the servers are closed :@ Stupid weekday opening hours :L

Don’t get me started on the updates for this damn thing. They open it up for just a few hours in the evening on weekdays and then drop gigabyte updates on us, grrrrr!

Tip for everyone: Download it on a Japanese/HK Account. For some reason, the 2gb or whatever downloads MUCH quicker.
Also best to leave it downloading overnight.

I dunno how many times I say this but I really dislike MAG! (well the beta atleast) I wouldn’t mind the huge downloads if the game was actually good, I feel like a headless chicken whe I play that game.

Are the issues with he game solely around a lack of direction with objectives? If so this may get better as more people are online playing and learning the maps/gametypes.
On the fence about MAG myself, enjoying MW2 at the moment and am looking forward to Bad Company 2 for a more structured FPS online blast. Will be interested to see how well the MAG community grows.
