Lunchtime Discussion: Resolution

No, not that kind of resolution, the other kind. Yeah, that one.

No, not that kind of resolution, this kind has nothing to do with pixels at all. It’s New Year, which is the customary time to begin a New Year’s resolution, otherwise it wouldn’t be called a New Year’s resolution in the first place. Since we’re a gaming site, you can all make resolutions in the comments below, but they have to be gaming related. You can also make resolutions up for gaming characters if you are sufficiently funny and choose to do so. Why the hell not?

I like assume that Nathan Drake’s New Year’s resolution would be to avoid both jumping off of very tall things and to stay the hell away from clowns. Meanwhile, Sonic is probably vowing to stop being abused by Sega and actually bring out a good Sonic game. In 2D. Looks like Sonic might come through, but, if we’re lucky, Mr. Drake’s resolution will crash and burn, because there’s no interesting gameplay in a game where he’s sat next to the fireplace reading the Lord of the Rings.

Uh, anyway. Commence your gaming resolutioning (new word).

  1. Finish all the games I start.

  2. play less warhawk
    complete ff13
err and find a game my mrs wants to play

    • Play less Warhawk?

Bah! Already knocked up a few hours.

      • I just bought it. Think I’m a little late to the party?

      • when i say less, wht i really mean is starhawk is due in may so i will just shift my time to that instead!

and you may be late butits an ace game mate, although there are a few tosspots that play. use the official servers for your rank, or set your search for player servers that are your rank. feel free to add me (same psn id) and i’ll give you some tips if you like. that goes for anyone that plays wrhawk.

      • Spend plenty of time in the tutorial… play it a couple of times, especially the aircraft (Warhawks/Nemesis) then seek out the beginner server, and spend as much time in that as you can (until you rank up and you’re not allowed on it anymore)

What type of games do you like playing? Deathmatch, CTF, Zones, others? Just play on the official servers for your preferred gametypes, modes or map rotations

I only play CTF so I have set my filters to only show CTF servers, and I always join the fullest official servers… then thats me done for at least 3 hours a night

There’s very few people who bother with a mic, unless you’re playing with friends, its just a case of getting used to dying….lots, if you get past a fortnight you’ll be addicted, but many don’t

      • Cool, thanks for the tips. I’ll give it a bash when my sister stops playing Fairytale Fights. Who could have known a game with Little Red Riding Hood as the main character to be so violent? It’s the most bloody game I’ve ever seen, even if it is in cartoon style.

  3. But since Drake’s next game wont come out till 2011 at the earliest, I wouldn’t really worry about him not having plenty time to read a few good books between now and then.

    • I think (hope) they’re going to do a PS3 version of J&D first

  4. My gaming resolution is to take advantage of supermarkets for day 1 sales, dont buy a game unless you KNOW it is gonna be worth it and further ignore the hype factor that sucks so many of us in these days.

    • Nice one

Big releases that receive supermarket subsidy will be my only day 1 purchases, everything else I’ll wait a fortnight for the inevitable price drop. I’ve also signed back up to LoveFilm and will rent everything except for the games I just have to buy like GoWIII, Heavy Rain, ModNation etc…

  5. My resolution is to not get angry with fucking idiots talking about actual TV resolution, read the fucking article!!!
Generally new year resolutions are a load of crap so Im gonna keep doing what I always do, play as many games as I can and try to get some new platinums.
1st up Army of Two 2 and MAG.
    Happy gaming people!

  6. To never get sucked into the terminator salvation trap of playing through a dreadful game just for an easy platinum. To spend more time with my newborn son and less time on my playstation.
