In a rather puzzling move, it seems the new DLC for Assassin’s Creed 2: ‘The Battle of Forli’ won’t be bringing new trophies along with it. Except for DLC that costs the lovely amount of zero, all downloadable content as far as I’m aware bring with it a few new trophies, so this decision to not include them confuses me greatly.
The only reason I can see as to why this happened is that Ubisoft were just lazy and didn’t want to come up with new trophies, though that just does not make any sense to me. Typical. Anyways, I’ll still be purchasing the DLC when it comes out this Thursday on the PlayStation Store.

This is a bit odd… but well whatever. Shame to know some people wont buy it for this reason though. :(

No surprise the dlc is far too cheap meaning the The Battle of Forli will likely be short besides just because it doesn’t have trophies doesn’t mean that this is really bad

I think it’s more to do with that the creative director behind AC2 doesn’t particularly like trophies, nor does he like collectibles.
It’s for this reason that AC2′s trophies are largely unlocked by simply playing through the game. There’s 2 or 3 trophies for running around places hunting for feathers and statues, but everything else is clearly marked on the map and sign posted for you to find. Also, the money’s just there to buy stuff and accrue more money as time passes..
There’s also only a couple of trophies for performing specific acts within the game. One trophy for the first of each sub mission that you do, and a trophy for learning and performing two special moves in combat.
All of which are only in there because Sony and MS have made trophies and achievements compulsory, and makes AC2 one of the easier games to platinum.

Wanted "Trophy Hunter" but was too late.

There is one missable trophy though, Fly swatter.
The lack of trophies in this DLC is really lame, specially when you consider the DLC was meant to be part of the game.
I’m still gonna buy it though.. properly.. :)

yeah but what he likes or doesn’t like is not the point so he should think of all the peps who do like it.

Well it’s an artistic decision, surely.
I mean, lets look at films. Should Sam Raimi have bitten his tongue for a second time as Sony try to force him into using 3D in the film? No. They should’ve left him well enough alone since he clearly knew what he was doing.
Trophies are nice, and all, but they don’t really matter. If you’re a completionist, then you’ll play the game and do everything there is to do anyway. If you’re a trophy whore, you can just go and get hannah montana.

Bold move, or lazy, or both. For zero pennies il still pick it up and give it a go.

Oh…. erm, I read it wrong. My bad. How much is it then? Still might get it but will wait for peoples opinions to see if its worth it first.

It’ll be €3.99, which will likely translate to be £3.29.
So, if Vanities cost’s the same, a bit under £7 for a few more hours of AC2. With Ubi boasting that both pieces of DLC will be 1GB+ in size, it’s indicative that it’ll be of a decent length.

Are there achievements for the 360 version of the dlc?

Oh well I wil lstill get this as soon as It comes back. I have got all the trophies for it but have avoided getting all treasure chests etc so that I can extend the life even further with the DLC.

The lack of trophies isn’t a problem for me in the slightest. I love AC2 so i’ll be getting it.

This can’t be right? Do they just intentionally want to throw away sales? Like it or not trophies are an established core of the PS3 gaming experience and leaving them out just gives people a reason not to bother purchasing the DLC and revisiting the game…
I know nothing about this DLC but is it a full price £7.99/£6.29 job or a cut price £2.99 type thing? If it’s the latter the lack of trophies is forgivable, but if it’s a full on expansion pack then the lack of trophies is a shocking oversight by Ubi, were they too busy including their U-points instead?! At the end of the day if they didn’t want to bother being creative they could have just added 1 Gold for completing the ‘battle’, does the 360 version not have Achievements either?
Also just to correct the article, sometimes free DLC does contain trophies – look at all the trophies you can unlock with Burnout Paradise once you have patched it, as well as extra trophies for the paid-for game packs and the Island – even some of the DLC cars have their own trophies!!

Could they stockpile the equivalent “points” and push in a gold or two in the more expensive second installment? ;)
