Unity3D, the browser-based tech that enables users to play full games without having to download them to their PCs, now supports the PlayStation 3 according to VentureBeat.  In addition to the latest version of the engine covering the PS3, it’ll also support Google Android and the iPad.

It’s not clear whether this will mean that previously Windows and Mac-based games will just ‘work’ on the PS3 with a small client installed (presumbly via a Firmware Update) or whether games will need to be recompiled, but either way it’ll bring a raft of new titles to the platform almost instantly.

For an example of what’s possible with Unity3D, check out Tropical Paradise.
