Over at GDC10, Sony have concluded their big reveal of PlayStation Move by highlighting some of  the brand new titles we will be able to get hold of once they release the system.  Interesting that most of the developers appear to be British, too, which can only be a good thing in our eyes.

Sports Champions

The first of the new titles was called Sports Champions. This included various games such as a Gladiator Challenge, which involved some swordplay and look very impressive and precise, and Table Tennis, which again seemed to work extremely well, with the demonstrator really getting into the sport.

Move Party

The next title shown was Move Party, this game uses the camera to track the player onscreen and the controller is represented by various items on screen, be it a tennis racket, paint brush and even hair clippers. This actually looks like it could be a fun party game which the kids should enjoy.

LittleBigPlanet Demo

The developers of LittleBigPlanet were up next to reveal that the game will be able to support PlayStation Move using the controller to move items on the environment. The way this works is that one player uses the Dualshock 3 controller, while the other uses Move to manipulate the environment, again it seems to work fairly well and dare we say actually looks quite fun.

EyePet

Sony also showed a brief video of Eyepet in which the motion controller seemed to replace the functions of the Magic Card which comes with the game, no other details were shown though.

Motion Fighters

The last new title that was shown was Motion Fighters. This is a gritty, hardcore street fighting game where the controller actually tracks your fighting moves in real time and allows for some nasty illegal moves if you’re energetic enough – it looks a bit strenuous to us which should please the fitness fans out there.

Accessories

Sony also revealed a sub controller for the PlayStation Move. This is basically the Nunchuck which allows players to control the movement of their character in games such as SOCOM 4, which will be playable with the new control scheme from beginning to end.

Sony were billing SOCOM 4 as one were you can easily sit down and play, rather than jumping around like you have flies in your pants.  It’s inclear as to whether you’ll be able to play against DualShock 3-weilding opponents with the PlayStation Move combo.

1 2

  1. So will LBP and Eyepet get a patch?
Or will it be a new game?

    • Looked like just a new material, so it’ll probably be a download in the style of the water/paintball additions.

      • Eyepet 2 was announce so i guess its that.

    • im hoping patch as i have both games lol! im intrested in the sony motion control but will wait till i see how much money it will be for 2 motion controls and 2 nunchucks..

  2. Wait wait wait, LBP2 online multiplayer, will there be Move support?

    • isn’t LBP 2 its just a adition not a sequel…

  3. Precise sophisticated-looking tech. But I’m underwhelmed. If they only release social games this will be an epic failure given the console’s user demographic and the proliferation of the Wii.

  4. the guy at the end quoted that sony alone have 22 move supporting titles to be released this year
whether he was talking about integrating it to old games as well as new titles would be interesting but with a further 35 third party developers in the mix, sounds like a promising start :)
not to mention doing the smart thing and releasing a “Move” bundled with PS3′s. It should help shift a lot of units in Sonys favor.

    • i must have my numbers muddled up, looks like its 20 in house sony devs and 36 third party

i just don’t know any more ahh :P

    • haha exactly my thoughts regarding LBP
when they spoke about it they did say a little something on already available games so i’m gonna take a guess and say LBP original ;)

it does make me think what they will incorporate into LBP 2 if it is going to be released after all if the Move support will already feature in the first LBP

  5. With the removal of the magic card it should be possible to make eyepet a downloadable game. The table tennis looked decent but i thought there was some lag with the fighting – i’ll have to have another look.
LBP won’t feature any single player Move controls it seems but maybe that’s for the best.
Swordplay, Archery and Fighting were demo’ed using 2 Move controllers which will certainly add to the cost.
I’m looking forward to hearing some hands on reports back from the demo booth at gdc.

  6. does anyone know if this event will b shown on HOME this thursday ?¿

  7. Can’t. Wait!
