Reuters is reporting that Activision have countersued West and Zampella, the principal heads of Infinity Ward, aledging the pair attempted to “hijack” the company’s key IPs, such as the Call of Duty franchise.
After firing the pair last month, West and Zampella sued Activision, seeking $36M in damages and royalty payments. Yesterday’s cross-complaint from the publisher cites violation of contracts and fiduciary duties.
Essentially, it says the duo were “insubordinate and self-serving schemers” who, reports Reuters, “negotiated with competitors while under contract and tried to prevent Activision from compensating Infinity Ward employees in order to make them easier to poach”.
The whole thing is up on IGN, if you fancy it.
