Zombies - truckers' only natural predator.

A gruesome marriage of Super Stardust HD and Left 4 Dead, Dead Nation is a PSN exclusive top-down zombie blaster originally revealed at Gamescom and now due for another outing at next week’s E3. The Stardust connection doesn’t end there, however, with Housemarque, the Finnish studio behind the dual analogue stick cosmic shooter, also developing this grisly and, dare we say, explosive undead romp.

Interestingly, rather than simply show off some of the game’s gory gameplay, the studio took it upon themselves to also commission some live-action footage to bolster up their first official trailer. Check it out for yourself. As you will see, truckers are unfortunately always the first victims in the zombie holocaust. They’re just so unbelievably tasty.

Of course, with games such as Zombie Apocalypse and Burn, Zombie Burn! fresh in our memories, this does look eerily familiar. Then again, killing zombies never gets old, and Housemarque are masters at the arcade-type shooter. Consider our delicious brains suitably piqued.

  4. I must say, this looks infinately better than BZB and ZA – the scattering of parts and fluids during those shorts gameplay snippets is incredibly inviting!!

  7. This is the one I’ve been waiting for. Burn Zombie Burn was shite, and Zombie Apocalypse was just lacking something. Dead Nation looks beautiful :D

    • Totally agree, Andy. BZB was pathetic. Gutted that I wasted money on that and it’s not often I say that about my PSN purchases. Same goes for Zombie Apocalypse but thankfully I only tried out the demo.

      • Joining the agreed gang! I didn’t buy the other two as I had seen gameplay footage for this and thought it looked great. Very atmospheric throughout

  8. I’ve been waiting to see more of this game since it was announced. I didn’t go for any of the other games hoping this would be a bit special. From those quick flashes of gameplay i can’t say i’m overly impressed. I’m still intrigued by the whole ‘each country as a nation in the game’ aspect so i’ll wait to see more.

    • L4D2 is awesome but if it plays as well as Stardust and is a budget release I may well have a gander. Just finished reading World War Z and the Walking Dead so I’ve a fair amount of zombie killing left in me yet :D
