E3 is almost upon us but that doesn’t stop information from leaking, as we well know.

The latest title to be outed before its official unveiling would appear to be EA’s next game in the Need for Speed franchise. If you watch the “E3: All Access” video over at GTTV then you’ll be treated to a preview of the booths that fill the expo. One such booth belongs to EA, and, as you can see below,one section is set to be plastered with the new NFS game – named as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

UPDATE: Criterion have Tweeted that the ‘Cat is still in the bag.’ So another iteration of Hot Pursuit or Hot Pursuit Race is looking unlikely afterall.

I assume the RACE part is in the name

I loved the original Hot Pursuit. It was the first NFS with cops I believe? Worked well with some original (at the time) ideas like stingers etc. This could be good but NFS games are so hit and miss these days, I’ll be waiting for a TSA review before I decide

  I loved the first hot pursuit, best of the bunch me thinks, hopefully this will do it justice. Is this the one that Criterion are developing?

  NFS Hot Pursuit 2 on ps2 was a great game and also the only NFS game i’ve ever really enjoyed playing. I still have it and sometimes dip into it on my bc PS3.

    Yup, agreed. Loved the first one. Loved all the cops chasing you and then ramming them into the walls to make them do 12 flips through the air. Genius

Damn I was close. Hot Pursuit was indeed right, as I posted about in http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/06/11/criterion-countdown/, but not from Criterion :(
