PlayStation Plus is right around the corner - a week today, in fact, and Sony have TOS’d up your PSN user accounts in readiness. In short – whilst the service seems interesting enough, we’re a little disappointed nobody at Sony is talking about Cross Game Chat on the record.
So, given what we know (see here for the FAQ) will you be subscribing?
Vote, and drop a comment in the box. Remember, this is just for fun, but we’ve got a box full of all kinds of swag here so we’ll pick one lucky commenter out at random and send them some stuff. For free. You won’t have to subscribe, or anything.

Oh tits. Just realised we don’t get the 3 months free trial like USA. Um, just a months trial for me.

I assumed it was the PSP version of LBP they gave away free with subs. Saying that though, why they’d assume you’d have a PSP just because you have a PS3 is beyond me.

The US doesn’t get a 3 month free trial either. They get 3 months free if they subscribe for a year. The press (so often very wrong) can spin that and say that every 5th month is free, or the first 3 months are free, or the last 3 months are free, but you still need to pay for 12 before you get those 3.
So no trial, it’s all about the value you get from it. I’m a day 1er, so I’ll let you know how it goes. That LBP for free offer stands till the 3rd of August too, and if you sub at any point in July, you get that month’s content. Huzzah!

Nothing in this life comes free!!
Its well worth the money, what everyone has to realise is, that they’re not just trying to get money of us, but they want to go head to head with xbox live and if we expect them to beat themthey wont do it without a payment option.
I understand that SONY are a business but they currently offer a great service free unlike Bill’s live and they’re not removing that so the only way can be up!!
Callme an optomist but it makes sense.

The US don’t get a 3 month free trial, if they subscribe for a year they get an extra 3 months free … if we (EU/UK) subscribe for a year, we get a free copy of LBP (as long as you subscribe in the first week)

Damn, teflon beat me. Although I thought you had to subscribe within a week to get LBP, but tef’s right, it’s anytime before Aug 3rd.

Cheers guys. Forgot about that and now recall. Part of the year’s sign-up. I have LBP here and it’s in suitably lovely condition. No need for me to get a download of it. I’m curious as to how big the download will be.
Anyway, I’ll test PSN+ out somehow, that’s for sure. 8-)

Yes for a year, on day 1 – gonna grab me my free copy of LBP as well
Although thinking about it, I’ve not played a single game on my PS3 for nearly a fortnight now, so errrm
Why doesn’t the Wii come with Blu-ray movie playback?

Don’t mind what they do. It rarely affects me but it’ll be interesting to see how they progress.
Wii went for basic tech and casual gamer appeal (through motion control). The others went for the opposite. Now we’re starting to see them consolidate everything and I’m guessing Wii2 will be HD and fairly well powered. The only separator will be the games (which is great when it comes down to it).

Nintendo have a very different business proposition from the other two.
They’re hardware is profitable from day 1, so even when they do come out with new hardware, it probably won’t hold a candle to the PS3′s Cell, although they should be thinking that over the life of the console Blu-ray drives could well end up cheaper than a DVD style drive.
given that thir biggest E3 announcements; Zelda, Epic Mickey & Donkey Kong Country aren’t out till 2011 I wonder if they’ll even announce a new console late this year… who knows, but whatever they do, there will be a lot of profit in it for them

The LBP deal is awesome. I take it that’s a downloaded version? I’d love the ability to play LBP whenever I want, without having to go and actually get it off the shelf :p

I’m lazy enough to play either the FIFA10/FIFA World Cup demo rather than get up and put the full game in.
So, errm very lazy.

To be fair the demo is better than the full game!! because you have no 6yr old in russia kicking your ass online

Watch copies of LBP absolutely flood ebay and all go on sale for about £1
Anyone who doesn’t own it should just buy it from there

I’m subscribing probably for the worst reason. I want to see what crud they give away for free each month. I actually think I might come across some gems I would never have actually purchased along the way.

I agree with that. You never know what might be given away. So I’m subbing for the year aswell.

May aswell try it out for the year. With all of the stuff you get for the price, it’s worth a gander.

I guess I’ll try it for a year, see how things go, especially if I can get it cheaper with instant PSN codes you get for like £17 on the internet. Hopefully there’s plenty of betas, and more stuff coming SOON, as in very soon.plus as some of us have pondered about is PS Classics, we have a bad selection, mainly consisting of Disney games… I don’t want Hercules.

I’m going to hold off for now. I have the majority of “free” games that are bundled with the first month’s subscription and the other features don’t really seem worth it to me.

Considering what they give you for the price of joining it doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

Gonna sign up for a year on day one. Will buy PSN network cards off shopto though to save a couple of quid.

I’m gonna try it for the first year since I havent bought many PAN games and see how it goes. If the service doesn’t evolve then I’ll stop after the year.

I’ve got wipeout and lbp already so i see no reason to start subscribing immediately, will wait until they get some good titles and maybe try it then

This is what has stopped me subscribing on day one. That and I want the problems to be ironed out before I hand over my cash.
