Family Pack For Xbox Live

Microsoft have unveiled a new Xbox Live subscription package called the “Family Pack.”

Paying $49.99 for an annual subscription to Xbox Live, in order to play games online and access various other content, is something that users of Microsoft’s console have gotten used to. For families or houses with multiple occupants, however, that cost obviously multiplies.

With Kinect arriving in November and with it aimed at the family market, Microsoft are launching the Family pack to coincide with the new hardware.

The Family Pack allows for 4 individual Xbox Live Gold accounts on one Xbox 360 for players from one household. This new membership pack will also grant the account holder greater control over aspects such as mature content, points usage and time spent gaming. This will cost $99.99 (EU pricing yet to be announced), the equivolent of 2 annual Xbox Live Gold accounts.

  1. 4 Xboxes in one house? isn’t that a bit.. rare..? Even with this Family Pack..

      • Why would you do that when you can have 4 people using the one console?

      • You can have four people playing online on the same account if you wanted (Live just appends the player number to the end of the gamertag) but it’s nicer to have your own account. Also if you’re sharing a Gold account online it precludes the people sharing the account from earning any Achievements (although I think the main user of the account can still earn them).

        Still think its a bit optimistic though.

        Why pay for one subscription when you can pay for more?

      Most 3 of them are usually broken though..

  4. This seems like really good value. Whilst you can share an account between multiple players online, it is nicer to have your own account.

  6. This would be great value, if I couldn’t already have my whole family registered on my PS3 and able to play online, access content etc… for $0 a year.

  7. Why not one account can linked to a account called a SUB-account oh wait…. they’re only interested in money.

    That would be cool but I just see no reason to pay more for four accounts.

  8. This is good news for people like myself.

    I have a Gols acocunt, and my oldest son has a Gold account. Now I can creat one for my wife (the peggel addict) and younger son for the same price i’ve been paying.

    Hopfully Sony takes a smillar approach with PSN Plus.
