Sony Japan have gone into PlayStation Move overdrive today and have, by virtue of a promo video, revealed Ape Escape. The main focus of the announcement is the date and price for Move in Japan (October 21st, and ¥3,980 respectively) and the country’s main bundle – the PlayStation Eye, a Motion Controller and a copy of Beat Sketch for ¥5,980.
The launch line-up is also confirmed, and will consist of:
- EyePet (SCEJ, ¥3,980)
- Sports Champion (SCEJ, ¥3,980)
- Beat Sketch (SCEJ, ¥2,980)
- Fure! Fure! Bowling (aka High Velocity Bowling, SCEJ, ¥1,900)
- Machi Suberi (aka Kung Fu Rider, SCEJ, ¥3,980)
- Big 3 Gun Shooting (Namco Bandai, ¥6,279)
Resident Evil Gold will support the Move via a free patch that’s due mid September. Killzone 3, Hustler King and Heavy Rain are all due for PS Move support but there’s no confirmed dates for any of those yet.
Sony also plans to issue a demo disk showing off some of the Move titles which will be packed in with the Motion Controller, the Starter Pack bundle mentioned above and the other new bundles, one for Resident Evil and one for Big 3 Gun.

Oh no, looks like they put Ape Escape on rails!?

Wasn’t Ape Escape revealed at TGS last year?
Charmed_Fanatic
Would be cool swinging that net for real!

I really quite like that ad. It’s informative (it has to be) and illustrates the diversity that Move allows. Ok, it’s pretty limited in the grand scheme of things but in the world of motion-based games, it’s doing well. I have to say, I’d really like to see how Move performs with Tiger Woods. Especially after the demonstration at E3.

As nice as the advert may have been, the ‘reveal’ of a seemingly on rails first-person Ape Escape has me heart broken. The originals were wonderful platforming gems, and to see them bastardized into THIS…well, I just hope that this is a downloadable title of sorts and we still have a full-retail reveal coming up in the future.

Possibly don’t look to getting Forza on the Xbox (with Kinect support). The accelerating and braking was done for you automatically!

+ you will have to stand o_O

That’s actually not a bad advert.

Classy ad, some great game faces too.
I like the way they had RE5 being played sitting down.

I can very much imagine me wanting to play RE5 with a Move controller slotted into that awesome gun design we saw a few weeks back. Pow Pow!

Agree that Ape Escape doesnt look like its going to be anything like the PS1 classic which is dissapopinting, but thats a pretty strong line up for a launch. Hopefully we’ll get all those titles over here, and the demo disk with the standalone controller sounds promising as well.

I thought the title read “Sony reveal Ape Escape movie”, and I was rather excited at how that would’ve turned out.
tinman9
Thought it was a Planet Of The Apes prequel.
