UK Charts: Week Ending 17th July

With news that the newly-reshapen Xbox 360 is the most sucessful console relaunch in the UK you could be forgiven for thinking that nobody has any spare cash for software. Not so, people are apparently still rushing out to buy Red Dead Redemption and Modern Warfare 2 for their console of choice.

EA’s latest two sports giants seem to be faring well with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 doing strongly and World Cup 2010 getting a bump, presumably from those who couldn’t bare to live the rest of their summers without the comforting drone of the vuvuzela.

The PlayStation 3 still shows strongly for God of War III, which raced back up the charts this week. ModNation Racers and Demon’s Souls round out the top-twenty for Sony exclusives with the latecomer that was GTA Episodes remaining respectable. Here’s the full run-down:

Over on Microsoft’s newly-revitalised glossy black beauty the exclusive Crackdown 2 crashes in at number one, in spite of very varied reviews. Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, the much-ignored Sniper: Ghost Warrior and Forza 3 are the Microsoft exclusives still carrying the baton in the top twenty. Here’s the full list:

  1. Surprised to see Red Dead Redemption still at the top. Seems to have been there for quite some time now.

    • I’m more surprised to see MW2 still up there, surely everyone’s bought that already!

      • Bought, completed in 6 hours & traded surely?

  2. Is there a chart that shows weekly sales figures rather than just position?

    • Not for Europe. The US has the NPD figures but even those are not complete, they don’t count sales from certain retailers.
I think Japan’s are the most accurate but that market is distinct from the western one in many ways so it’s not so relevant to us.

      • Thats a shame, I’d really like to see how many copies get sold every week.

  3. What happened with GOWIII to bump it ip 10 places, must have been some good offers on that this week
And Split/Second seems to heave the edge over Blur this week, guaranteed next week Bl;ur will be higher up thjat seems to be the way its going, LOL

    • PS3 owners have the multiplayer demo of Blur and at the prices its being sold at it should easily beat Split/Second next week

  4. That reminds me, I must get GOWIII soon.

  5. How is naughty bear doing so good …???

    • Probably mums buying it for their kids thinking that it is a nice, sweet little game…

    • Probably casual gamers thinking it will be a laugh – They play it for an hour and relise they have bought a badly excuted game and I will hazard a guess that it will be closer to 20 or not in the top 20 next week.

The game could of been so much better – Shame.

  6. A nice entry for Tiger Woods there. Gonna get it myself soon and RDR toowhen i get chance.

And wtf is with MW2. Its been up in the charts so long that everyone must have owned it twice by now…..and its not even /that/ great. Tis quite mental really, i wanna know why.
