The teasing started this afternoon, where the news was meant to go live at 4pm, but after a short delay whilst the text was approved internally, SCEE Community Team Leader MusterBuster announced that UK PlayStation gamers will get access to something called PlayStation Beta.
“From Friday 30th July – Sunday 1st August,” says MusterBuster, “we’re turning the Vaad Gallery at Birmingham’s Custard Factory into a gamer’s paradise.”
“Calling all PlayStation faithfuls, we’re inviting you to come and prove yourself on games before they’re released, battle it out with the best of the best, win prizes, and speak face to face with your gaming heroes. While other people can only talk about future games, you can be launching yourself into them for real at our first ever PlayStation BETA event in Birmingham.”
Games will include: The Fight Move Edition, Kung Fu Rider, Sports Champions, Killzone 3 Dualshock, Motorstorm Apocolypse, GT5, Dead Nation, Eat Them and Heavy Rain Move Edition.
The event is open to UK residents. To secure a place for you and a friend, send SCEE an email on betarooms@scee.net before Monday 26th July along with your preferred date. You can choose from the following sessions:
Places are offered on a first-come, first served basis so don’t hang about.
Eagle-eyed visitors to the official forums might have spotted some images that appeared to show a “Beta Rooms” scenario posted by MusterBuster on his personal profile that were immediately taken down. Well, now it’s official. For more information – click here.

I don’t live in the UK but… I have a PSN UK Account. Can I use it to access that?

It’s a physical event that you need to go to, not a beta through your PSN.

I’m extremely tempted. I assume it’s open to u18′s? I seem to remember another event that required you to be 18+…

Its probably open, but I’d assume that 18+ games would be off limits though..

The only interesting game is MotorStorm, and I’m not interested in winning a 3D TV or playing with a Move controller.
I’ll pass on this.
