Whilst I’m of the opinion that these new screens don’t really show the PS3 in its best light, I’m a big old biased Rings fan, so if Warner Bros can at least create some of the magic of the legendary books (and, you know, the films) in this game then I’m in.
The game, dubbed Aragorn’s Quest, naturally centres on the adventures of said Ranger, we’re told players will be able to relive the hero’s “most valiant battles” equipped with a sword, shield, bow and spear. Nifty. There’s also some horseback sections, and a co-op mode featuring Gandalf.
Other characters confirmed include Gimli and Legolas, the latter looking quite similar indeed to his movie actor.
Aragorn’s Quest on the PS3 will support Move – we’ll see how this one pans out.

WARNING: Pleae be careful when viewing the Screnshots. CONTAINS LOTS OF SHARP POINTS.
Srsly that’s not much up on a PS2 game.
PoorPaddy89
GoW II certainly looked better.
jikomanzoku
It looks like it has a lower poly count than Spartan:Total Warrior without the fantastic number of adversaries that game allowed.
gurglesletch
I wonder if they used the LOTRC engine because that looked just like this game.
billsmugs
I quite like the visual style, hopefully they can bump up the quality of the textures a bit and make it look less blurry though. Move support is good, this and Sorcery could be the main move “bullet points” that persuade me to get a Move at some point.
Incidentally, when is this out?

Those screenshots made me say WoW
Rocket_345
Do you mean Wow as in World of Warcraft or WOW as in good
hazelam
does it just support move or require it?
not too bothered about how it looks, more how it plays, look at a game like limbo.
nofi
huh? limbo’s probably the best looking videogame this generation… :/
STILLCANTTHINKOFAGOODPSNNAME
i think he means limbo looked good but played crap IHO
hazelam
artistically yeah it’s a great looking game, very atmospheric, but from a technical standpoint it’s very basic graphically, at least from what i’ve seen of it, and i’ve only played the demo.
it’s all drawn in greyscale and just features silhouettes primarily.
what i’m saying is you don’t need the latest 3d engine pushing billions of polygons a second to make a great game, gameplay trumps graphics nine times out of ten.
STILLCANTTHINKOFAGOODPSNNAME
are you sure this isn’t a wii game o_O
grrr when are they going to make a hardcore blood an guts hack and slash LOTR game where every shit brick and scrotum licker DOESN’T know magic. and would it kill them to create new characters for once that aren’t carbon copies *im looking at you LOTR the 3rd age*
it’s so irritating to see an ip with so much potential being pissed away *cough*AvP*cough*
Addam
Is the Wii the lead platform on this?!
colmshan1990
Yes.

Who’s doing the voice acting? I just want a LoTR game done in Oblivion style. Is it really too much to ask?
And seeing as Warner Bros now has the licence (or something?) I guess there won’t be another Battle for Middle Earth.
gurglesletch
That would be amazing having an open world LOTR game.
tonycawley
Looks shit, but has potential. Graphics aren’t everything, i thoroughly enjoyed fallout and that looked awful. If they get the questing and fight mechanics right this could be good. Bad decision making wii lead platform though, you’re kinda limiting yourself to horrendous graphics by doing that.
Pemberton_
It was in development for Wii long before PS3, I _think_? That’s why it’s a port.
hairfreax
Looks like some awful cartoon LOTR tie in
Phil_E
if it looks like that when it comes out, count me out
sanmartinez
