Insomniac To Reveal Their New Game At E3 27

Just before E3, Ratchet and Resistance creators Insomniac Games revealed that they are working on a multi-platform title in collaboration with the EA Partners scheme. Many assumed that the pre-show announcement was so the headlines weren’t stolen from their new game, to be shown at the big event. Clearly that didn’t happen, but the studio has now begun teasing an announcement of their next project at the Penny Arcade Expo in early September.

Last week, Insomniac replied to a query about their plans for the expo via Twitter with “we have very exciting plans for PAX we are going to announce soon!”, before later tweeting (in response to Irrational Games’ August 11th press event) “Sounds like the other IG (Irrational Games) is revealing their next game in [sic] August 11th… Makes us want to get in on the fun!”.

Then yesterday the studio pretty much confirmed a PAX reveal for their next title with two tweets. After announcing the announcement of the announcement (“Want to know when we’re announcing our next game? Find in our new newsletter this Friday!”), they also revealed that the aforementioned newletter would reveal their plans for PAX (“The Friday newsletter will also be exciting for those of you going to PAX, and who might want to see us. All the details on PAX panels!”). Man, those guys love their exclamation marks.

Okay, so maybe it’s not a concrete confirmation that the new game will be at the show, but when looking at that bunch of tweets together it seems highly likely. So what is the studio likely to reveal? We could see that multi-platform EA title, Resistance 3, or something entirely different. Although that billboard that originally teased the alien-blasting sequel was on the set of upcoming movie Battle: Los Angeles, which is currently set for a March 11th release, so unless that was some very early product placement, an announcement would likely be quite soon.

Either way, the Penny Arcade Expo is being held from September 3rd-5th, so we’ll find out then.
