Word just in, via Microsoft’s PR army, that Xbox Live will be making the Mafia II demo available to download from tomorrow (Tuesday). Good news for those of you who like a little more organisation behind your third-person open-world crime sprees.
Whilst waiting for the hours to tick by, you can read what our own consigliere – Dan – thought of the demo when he played it at 2K’s London hideout last week. I’m off to play a little game where I surf every gaming website I can find to see how many of them used the expression: “offer you can’t refuse” when reporting on this post. I may also count up horse’s head references. I may be some time.
This coincides with the PSN’s decision to allow a day of early access to PlayStation Plus subscribers.

I might be being picky here, but shouldn’t the title say “XBLM” instead of “XBLA”? XBLA stands for XBOX Live Arcade, and I didn’t realise Mafia 2 was a downloadable title. :P
So now us PlayStation Plus users aren’t really getting the Demo early at all? It’s just the Demo being pushed back for non-subscribers? LOL.
Looking forward to trying this game out anyway, the demo will be the decider for whether I will buy it or not. :D

I suppose you’re technically correct about the XBLA/XBLM thing but most people refer to the whole thing as either “Live” or “XBLA” so I thought that would be the simplest way of describing where it will be!

Looking forward to this, looks quite good. If Sony want more PS+ subs, they need to make demo access at least a week earlier, not 1 day.

Yeah,
It looks like MS push the demo back a week for non-gold subscribers, wonder if Sony will do the same before much longer

Goddamnit.
Packed away the XBOX yesterday as I’m moving on Fri. :(
Getting really quite annoyed with having to download demos on the XBOX for games I intend to buy on PS3…

Can you not wait one day?

Sounds like MS is trying to make it sound like the demo is exclusive to xbox.
Although the demo comes out on tues on 360 it’s only for gold members. Regular psn still gets it before live and psn+ gets it the same day as live gold.

microsoft are hardly gonna anounce the demo is also on PSN are they?

I don’t know why the need to announce it at all. Surely that’s the job of the publisher. After the MGS: Rising fiasco it was brought to my attention how often MS make things sound exclusive when they aren’t.

MGS:R was hardly a fiasco, it was just MS announcing it for their system (they’re not going to mention competitors in marketing speak are they, just like Sony wouldn’t) along with seemingly grabbing exclusive marketing rights like Sony has done with several EA titles.
Course there’s a need to advertise a Gold exclusive demo when its a whole week in advance of non-subscribers.
After all Sony announced it, and their benefit is laughably only one day

Well Microsoft announced it in their section where they said all of these titles are exclusive to 360. It took Konami to make a special announcement that it was multiplatform before MS did a lot of backtracking.

1 day? Again? Wow.
PSN+. Worth it.

Yeah, because that is the only single benefit there is.
You get nothing else, other than this demo 1 day early for the £34 PS+ costs

I bet the people that slag off PS+ will eat their words when some if the betas kick off for highly anticipated exclusives.

PS+ will get better over time.

Doesn’t matter if it doesn’t. It costs £34 to £40, the first 2 months paid for itself easily, leaving me with TEN months to milk it. The haters make me chuckle to myself, which turns into an evil laugh when I think how much I’m ripping off Sony.

Seriously starting to hate PS+ at this point. Back when I could ignore it with no disruptions to usually business I was fine with it being there, but if it’s going to start getting in the way of decent looking downloads(In short supply on the store at the best of times) even for a single day, yes, then I’m going to be changing my PSN profile card comment to “***k Plus” forthwith. Lets see Sony get over the sting of that in a hurry.
Seriously though, not pleased about this at all.

Hey, I’m not going to argue about the merits or lack thereof of Xbox Live subscription fees, but just because one services has it’s sticking points doesn’t excuse another having them as well.
