Following on from the game’s surprise appearance in Sony’s Move and 3D showreels earlier this evening, Sega have officially announced Virtua Tennis 4.
The title is being developed by the original Virtua Tennis team for PlayStation 3 and Move, and will also support 3D. ”Virtua Tennis 4 with the PlayStation Move is more than just hitting the ball; it’s about the angle of the racquet, the spin and speed of the ball and the power of the shot,” reads the press release. “The advanced motion sensors of PlayStation Move precisely track both the fast and subtle movements of the controller allowing for pinpoint accurate shots as players improve their racquet skills.”
Confirmed for the game are Roger Federer and Andy Murray, who take center stage in the screenshots below, with the full line-up and additional game features to be announced at a later date. Virtua Tennis 4 is scheduled for a launch next year on PS3, with no mention of other platforms in the release.

This has the potential to be absolutely awesome, if they get the whole shot precision thing right. Though it could end up being quite a work out if playing a 5 set match!

Yes potential it has – let’s hope it gets realised. I would love an actual motion controlled tennis game which doesn’t feel like random arm swinging.

if this, KZ3 and Time Crises are all good with Move i think it will boost Move’s popularity with the hardcore

Really excited about the potential of this, with all the training minigames too it would probably be more use than the majority of fitness shovelware I expect to surface.

I think it’s a sun tan, which is clearly stupid because andy murray’s scottish and we all know they’re so white they’re blue.

The skin looks terrible!
I’m not sure on this one, I’ve heard that you dont control the person ala Wii Sports and if thats the case then its a no from me.
Plus 2009 was pretty boring so I’ll have to wait and see.
