The UK charts have changed very little since we last did an update – although this is a trend that is set to change over the next couple of months. The big winner is Mafia II, which has had the biggest domestic game launch since Red Dead Redemption, which was released 14 weeks ago. In terms of console split, the Xbox 360 accounted for 52%; the PS3 took 41% with the PC mopping up the dregs.
Despite receiving mixed reviews, Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days clings on to a good spot, and the surprisingly good Toy Story 3 continues to put in a strong performance. It’s good to see Dragon Quest IX hanging on in there as it is a truly epic game, both in terms of story and scale. As mentioned, the rest of the all formats chart has a sadly familiar look about it – but this is the calm before the storm.

I guess that Kane and Lynch result is something to with it going for sub-£20.

£17.99 works wonders on a week 2 title… surprised it isn’t excluded from the main charts and relegated to the budget charts

Think about the poor suckers like me who bought the game on release day for £39.99, only to find its only 4-5 hours long, finish it, go to trade it in just 6 days later and get offered 15 quid store credit because the game has plummetted in price :(

@ Cam I did check the price at Shopto and they were selling the standard game for £30+ so when I saw the price in Tesco’s on the Limited edition for £24.70, it was a no brainer.

Interesting see the games in all-format perspective
Wii Sports Resort at No. 5 is the highest single format, most probably helped by the peripheral that people want, a lesson I’m surprised Sony haven’t learned from, with their lack of Move + Game bundles. (please Sony)
Just Dance still doing the business as the top single format game without a peripheral, been at the top of the charts for months now… Obviously MS are hoping to take some of this obviously huge market with Kinect and it’s array of games which offer a similar experience to Just Dance.
Then not just many people’s GotY, but quite a few people’s game of the generation in SMG2

It probably helps Wii Sports Resort that the bundles with the Wii have been reduced to about £130

I’d buy for anything less than the £39.99 that’s it’s retailing at.

Woohoo.
I’m a statistic. Mafia II on day one. Still yet to put in on though.
