We’ll Continue To Improve PlayStation Plus – Sony

Just a tit-bit of PlayStation Plus related news to keep the fires stoked, especially since the recent revelation that, despite your prompt allegiance, you’re not getting a free copy of Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty. Just Sackboy for you, early-adopters.

Responding to criticism in the comments section of the very post announcing October’s Plus content, Sony’s James Thorpe has confirmed that they are still looking at adding services to PlayStation Plus. After one of the commentariat practically rattled off a laundry list of desired services, from Cloud-based game saves to that old bugbear Cross Game Chat, James states:

That is exactly what we are trying to do for you. We feel that the content offering in Plus is very strong and getting stronger but we are always looking for new ways to improve the service. Plus is def[initely] not a fixed service but evolving all the time.

It’s important to note that the subscription package is still only a couple of months old, so there’s plenty of time to see if Sony make good on their word and add perks like exclusive access to betas and other non-content related elements to the fledgling service. Only time will tell. What incentive are you looking for most that would entice you to part with your money?

  1. I continue to be glad I’m not bothering with PSN plus the more I hear about it. Some discounts that will inevitably end up on the special offer section eventually are simply NOT enough to justify the cost. What makes it all the worse is just how much more the Americans get for thei subscription cash compared to Europeans. It’s a bit of an insult, and yet another good reason for me to never plunk down money for the ‘service’.

Also, just to echo sentiments, I too am sick of hearing about cross game chat and hope they implement it just so I never have to hear about it again.

    • I looked on theirs, all they have extra is more discounts really.

  2. Standard bullshit response from Mr. Thorpe there.

Buying into services on a promise is never a good idea.

  3. Not off to a great start, plus section for today still not updated. SCEE is a joke, they have prove it time after time. Getting access to buy a ps1 game one week before, does not make up for the lack of content vs. US.

  4. before i answear i feel it is neccisary for me to inform you that it is currently 5:48 AM and i am incredibily sleep deprived due to flashy lights.
well now that that is out of the way.

I think the main problem with Plus is the fact that we are not seeing the improvemeants/upgrades we were promised.
we are currently only seeing cheaper old games and a couple of earliar demos, not enough. i really would like some PLUS exclusivbe betas (KZ3, LBP2 and Infamous2)
how long must we wait, sony?

but hey theres still one good reason to have PLUS now.
in a few months you will be able to say, i got Playstation Plus before it was cool :)

  5. ok ok, for a start i would like this months content to update, pretty annoyed today coz of that. secondly the next DLC is for ufc 2010, i dont have that game so what is the point? its psn plus give us some LBP free dlc or UC2 as theyre exclusives, ufc is shite!!

next i could do with faster downloads or something like that, better games, zen pinball was a bit rubbish, not enough depth to it. beta of LBP2 or a demo of GT5 exclusive. and maybe even firstplay free. hopefully nov and december will be good as octobers content looks like a piss take

  6. I have been a big supporter of PS Plus, and Sony’s conduct today has been an utter disgrace, indefensible. They mess up the Store update, Dont include PS+ content and then don’t give any correspondance to exlain why or give an eta. Bullshit.

  7. I think Sony honestly need to rethink their strategy here, why not offer upgrades in the user system for plus subscribers, MKV format usability, cross gamer chat, upload saves, breakdown cover, make it so you can edit what 5 ps3 systems have access to your account, allow you to change your user name say twice a year, why not have a PSN game store that you can buy actual physical games from at a discounted price for being a subscriber and have them delivered to your door?

  8. I was hoping for more to be honest. I didn’t sub early because I won’t be home much for the coming months, but if that wasn’t the case, I would have been disappointed in what I’ve seen so far. I for one would have liked to see the cross game chat implemented ( not one of those bitching about it all over the place). Some discounts here and there, and some free minis is not enough.

  9. How about you launch it in Russia already?

I suppose people at Turkey are not happy as well.

  10. I think PS+ will just keep getting better as time goes on I for one am glad I got it.
