21Looks like all the groovy people are updating their home pages today – you’ll no doubt have seen our new home page which is designed to let you get to the bits of the site you want to quickly and give everything its own place and purpose.
You probably won’t have seen Sony’s tweaks to the Japanese PSN Store home page, though, which now looks a little bit like this:

That’s the number of ads reduced to two, nicely sized ones in the best location; the top 10 list has been moved to the middle and on the right is a pack of recommended products based on what you’ve been buying.
There’s still the slightly pointless You May Like boxes on the side of each product page in the Store, but the less in-your-face ads on the homepage suit me much better than the massive ones we have on the European Store which seem to take up most of the space.
Thanks, PSNStores.com.

Looks better and tidier … wish we had a top ten thing

Yeah our ads are stupid.
Also whilst waiting for the PS+ side of the store to update, I kept clicking the PS+ ad in the Plus section (why?!) and it’s like refreshing the page, but going down and endless road of pages, and the best bit is, when you press circle to go back, you navigate backwards through the same amount of pages you went through.

How delightfully Alice.
Sounds pretty cool, to be honest. An infinite loop of awesome PS+ pages. :P

What drives me up the wall is when they decide that the best way of advertising a game is to place a background image for it that makes all the text in the store pretty much illegible.

Yeah that does my box in when they do that.

What about our store? It’s rubbish, slow, poorly organised and no where near as well stocked as it could be. Take a look at the American store, it’s really slick in comparison.

In fairness the content has improved massively since the EU Blog started

Have you tried the New Releases list in the US store? It’s a total mess.

like the new design of TSA guys, well done. Is the EU store getting a revamp do you think? I think it’s pretty good as it is, although a top ten downloads would be good.

Wow lot’s of people not liking the EU Store! Am I the only one that likes our layout? I find most things easy to find (assuming they have been filed correctly) and 99% of the time I only use the ‘Latest’ section anyway.
What’s up with having scrolling ‘game posters’ on the front page? It makes it look more colourful and interesting than a boring Top 10 text list IMO. That Japanese screenshot looks dull by comparison. I suppose it’s good for people that don’t visit the store regularly to know what’s the most popular games are though…
The only thing that seems a little pointless to me on our store is the ‘You Might Also Like’ bits they’ve added. It would have been better to have been genre based or tag based or something as the selection is pretty random – it may as well just randomly generate 5 other titles next to each game…

I think the Top Ten bit would be really good on the EU store, and also a seperate catorgory for Demos like the US Store.
