Ninja Theory’s upcoming action-adventure title Enslaved: Odyssey to the West has gone gold, the game’s publisher has announced.
The game follows the journey of Monkey and Trip across a far-flung future America, searching for Trip’s home, and taking down giant mechs along the way.
As well as the regular edition, Enslaved will also have its own Collector’s Edition, with an artbook containing exclusive concept art that shows the game through development, as well as a CD copy of the game’s soundtrack.
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West will be out for PS3 and 360 on October 8th, and we’ll have new impressions of the game later today.

i’m still on the fence about this game. on one hand it looks great and the idea seems good but what i find hard to get it why does trip look exactly the same as nariko from heavenly sword? i know the two games are made by ninja theory but i dont see why they have to look the same. also the gameplay looks solid but it seems like it could just become repetitive very quickly

Castlevania is my big hope for a great adventure game this winter – but I will be keeping an eye on this one, the trailers have looked pretty good so far.

Yeah I agree Owendarko. Well looking forward to this one.

I’m still not sure about this. I’m not liking robots as enemies or the highlighting of places you can jump to. Heavenly Sword was impressive but this hasn’t given me that wow factor yet. Maybe a hands-on..

Is the HMV version the collectors? It’s the same price as the normal one.

I am quite intrigued by this game, the whole idea of a post-apocalyptic game looking this bright and colourful is really appealing. I’m not sure it’ll live up to Uncharted 2, but the setting is pretty interesting.

I really hope they’ve handled the source material (which is a great mythologised classical novel about a Buddhist pilgrimage) sensitively. I’m really worried that this will be another plundering of a great philosophy for cheap thrills.
bunimomike
Do you have a blade to self harm with? :-p I don’t hold out much hope for them handling this with any particular degree of sensitivity.

Honestly, I didn’t know that before I spent a considerable amount of time with the game, and I can’t remember seeing anything that would even suggest the link. Sorry! In fact, from what I played of the plot, there’s not even a pilgrimage involved.

It’s a fantasy fable based on the monk, Xuanzang, and his trip to India to find sutras.
It was fantasized in the novel (Journey to the West) as the Monkey King and his three companions (Tripitaka – who is based on Xuangzang -, Piggsy and Sandy) sent by a boddhisatva to retrieve texts. It is most famous as a badly dubbed – but still awesome – 1970s tv show made in Japan called “Monkey”.

I was/am a big fan of Heavenly Sword so I’m really looking forward to this one.

Good date to release this game. A month later and it would have been swallowed up by the COD hype monster. But MoH might give it some problems though. Maybe they should have waited till January? Anyway, I’ll be buying this and MoH…no problems there for me.
rht992
well i am a sucker for soundtracks . . .

This game looks like it rips off Jak & Daxter a lot,
but I’ll probably GameFly it to try it out anyway…since Jak & Daxter aren’t coming back anytime soon, heh.
