Uncharted 2 GOTY Edition Coming To The US

Sony have announced via the PlayStation Blog that Naughty Dog’s fantastic Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will be getting a special Game of the Year edition in the States.

As well as the full game, the rerelease will include a PlayStation Store voucher for a whole bunch of bonus content, including the Heroes Skins pack, the Drake’s Fortune and Siege Multiplayer packs, a double XP multiplayer (up to level ten), golden AK-47 and 92FS 9mm weapons, early access to the “Revenge” booster, the Eye of Indra comic bundle – deep breath – two Uncharted, two Among Thieves and one Eye of Indra avatar packs, and the Uncharted table for the PSP’s Pinball Heroes.

In celebration of Among Thieves first birthday, and the new release, the developers are arranging a special weekend of festivities from the 16th October. “We’ll be running a special one-day only playlist which compiles a “Best of…” selection of gametypes we’ve chosen from previous episodes of “The Lab.” We’ll also have plenty of Dogs online nearly all day in that playlist to play against,” Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer wrote on the Blog.”But that’s not all – we’re not ready to reveal everything yet, so please check back on NaughtyDog.com in the next few weeks. We’ll be posting more details on all the awesomeness we have in store for our fans!”

The Game of the Year edition will be out October 12th in the United States for $49.99, with no details yet on a European release.

  1. Nice…
Although I would hope most gamers would have this in their collection by now, a good deal for those who don’t have the DLC. And even better for those poor fools who are yet to play it, or traded it.

    • awww, i should’ve bought it 3 months later!!
      darn it!

  2. A goty edition without the extra content on the disc? Is this a first?. It’s a shame that the resale value will be decimated once the code is used – not that i would ever sell my copy of UC2 – but i guess this is something we’re going to see more of in future.

    • Maybe that’s the point…

Also it get’s people hooked up and using the PSN Store, it’s hard to believe but there are probably lot’s of PS3 owners that haven’t taken their consoles online yet, or at least haven’t downloaded content before…

It’s been ages since I’ve been on Uncharted, maybe I’ll give the multiplayer a bash during the birthday event…

      • Apparently 70% of PS3s have been online

    • Nope, AC2 was the same, you had to download all the extra content. It was incredibly annoying, still not sure why they can’t just include it on the disc – well, except reducing the resale value perhaps.

      • The Borderlands GOTY is going to be the same. Looking forward to it though :)

    • but most of it is for online play anyway so those who are not online, wont be able to play the content even if it were on disk.

  3. I already have my amazing looking Collector’s Edition from release so I’ll stick with that.

  4. loved the game can’t wait for a 3rd installment

  5. Most of that “bonus content” is worthless.

    • lol

yeah double XP up to level 10, golden guns, a booster, also a lot of people could question the value of the skins pack… then the comic collection and pinball table for a psp game will only be of limited appeal, leaving just the included maps.

added together, along with the awesome game its good value, but attaching $35 of value to it seems a stretch far when only the maps will be useful to everyone and the other stuff of niche interest.

Loved this game though, wish I could experience the single player for the first time again, enjoyed the multiplayer for quite a while too

  6. Still have not played it yet … might trade in my copy for this if it comes out here :)

  7. I can’t believe it’s been a whole year already!

  8. Finally!
A game that deserves “GOTY” since Oblivion!

  9. i recently got U2 so i think i can live without the $35 extra content, but this game is by far the best game i have played up to date and i really believe that it deserves a game of the year edition, possibly game of the decade.
