Some gameplay footage of inFAMOUS 2 has emerged from The Eurogamer Expo 2010 – and whilst it looks good I’d just like to clarify a point regarding the combat. There was no one around the inFAMOUS 2 screen area to give a rundown of the controls and combos, so the footage shown makes the game look like a fairly basic ‘hack and slash’ affair – and this isn’t true.
Whilst watching the man (and legend) djhsecondnature play through the demo it became apparent there is a wealth of moves available. An example of this is a one move that sees Cole flip over the enemy and come crashing down on them in slow motion; whilst another sees Cole hook the enemy with his weapon (ooh err!) and fling them over his shoulder. There are also vicious kicks and knees to the face, which are wince inducing.
Enjoy the footage below – inFAMOUS 2 is brimming with potential.

Is it using a brand new engine? as this looks ten times better than the original.

I’m not sure to be honest. Some of the animation was a bit wooden, but the lighting was great.

i really enjoyed the first installment of infamous, the story and the battles were far diferernt than what you usually get in games and the fact you could choose to be good or evil really added to the emersion,my favourite thing though is that evil and good had their own sets of powers, the 2 things that bothered me was the graphics which were just okay but honestly a game does not need good graphics to be a great game, the only reason i was irritated was that it was not even using the full power of the playstation3 and it was a playstation only release.the second thing that was bad was that if you chose good or evil the story does not semm to change much,i really hope that they make a more in dephth evil and good story line in infamous 2 which are almost completely different.in the footage above it is clearly evident that the graphics are way better,as well as the large array of abilities that are added to this installment, all in all i cant wait for this titlt to come out, it is definately going to be a first day buy for me.

It definitely looks much better than the first game, sadly no blood shed during combat. Maybe it was just me but he seemed to be sliding around quite a bit during the combat?

Couldn’t agree more, Dan. I’ve played the first one through twice and this guy played it like a slugger. I love, love, LOVE the melee in the first one as it was simple but effective. Sure, most of the game required ranged attacks most of the time but it was still fun to boot people off of buildings, etc. However, this guy melee’d nearly everything which ruined the footage somewhat (like seeing some of those GT trailers where the people simply can’t drive).
The engine is looking supremely powerful in comparison and any seasoned inFamous player will see the potential for buggering around the city and enjoying new moves and ways to cap a bad guy.
Top stuff if you know the game. If you don’t, this sort of trailer actually might put people off a bit.

That’s alright, fella. The good thing about TSA is a lot of us do genuinely read the comments basically because we’re all grown-up enough to write something amusing/decent/informative – which is what you’d done. :-)

I’m undecided on this, the first was okay, fun but a bit repetitive. If they really ramp the powers up in this instead of the standard long range, short range and explosive that you get in ever game then I would be more interested. The vortex looks cool though, so that’s promising. I didn’t like the way your path lights up though, The whole point of free running games like this is to work out your own path, not follow glowing cables.

Ah, now I liked the glowing path as I guess it highlighted where you could slide but it might not be the quickest path as simply climbing to the top and taking the more direct route might still be the badger. Then again, perhaps it needed to be more subtle as it was pretty in-your-face, wasn’t it.

That’s fair enough, it certainly makes the chase missions easier. Perhaps a more subtle glinting might be better as you said, so that if you get stuck you can stop and look for it, but on the fly you aren’t really aware of it. Ideally you could just turn it on and off in the options, then everyone will be happy!

I’m hoping the lit up cables are only featured during missions to help u find your way a little. Looks like it can get a bit chaotic. But with the ramped up graphics engine and new moves this looks set to b quite awesome!

I think this is a tutorial mission, notice the instructions like ‘use the cables to catch up to the mission’ or ‘push right to use an Ionic vortex on the chopper’.

I’m getting fizzingly excited about this game, It seems to shape up to be the perfect sequel: better graphics, more interesting gameplay, a more diverse environment… I just wished they’d kept Cole’s original voice actor.
