Oh Eigernordwand, I’ve missed you. The track, based on the Swiss mountain, first appeared in the wee Gran Turismo pre-Prologue prologue that launched with the PlayStation 3, and is still a brilliant track to whizz around.
It has never looked this good before, though:
That’s the Nissan GTR, rain and a half decent driver. If you ever see a better looking racing game, let me know. The only thing missing, as one chap over at GAF pointed out, is that the wipers don’t squeak whilst you’re in the tunnel.
Don’t delay it for that, Kaz, but – yeah – we’ll be wanting that patch before the first weekend is out.
Via GAF.

Can’t believe I’m still up at this time!
Looking great, will hopefully be getting it as a birthday present next month :)
GT3 was the highlight of the series for me, after having played them all, and I’m hoping this is a return to stunning form.

i have never really been a fan of the gran turismo but i might just pick this one up to show people the detail of the graphics. that’s not rain hitting the car windows – it’s my drool!

That rain effect is really impressive. It’s distracting and difficult like really driving in the wet. I like Eigernordwand too, it’s tricky but not too hard and there are some quick bits and well designed.
I cannot wait for GT5

3shirts! They’re still using the screeching sound in the wet! Hahahahaha! *shakes head at sample of sound that simply will NOT die!*
I had the video playing in the background whilst typing my first comment up and thought “no, god no!”. :-)

Tyre screeching in the rain? Just like all bad american movies.

I was watching it while listening to the radio so didn’t have the sound on.

“and a half decent driver”
Oh well, at least we know how Alex/nofi drives. That bloke shunted and t-boned his way to the front! Hahaha :-)

Just thinking the same thing, same old “use the other cars as a brake” gameplay from GT.
Looks amazing, but still unconvinced the gameplay experience is going to be any different from the very sterile feel of prologue.

I’ve fond memories of that track, possibly because it was the only track in GT HD Concept but it was a decent one with some challenging bits. That rainy weather looks like it will certainly add to the challenge.

Nice race set up but which brand is that wheel…a brown one, I’ve only ever known black uns’…maybe it’s a Ferrari wheel or a mouldy G25 from all of the sweaty palms that have molested it.

do guys that enjoy GT buy a wheel or is it good with joystiq too?

I’ve never bought a Steering Wheel for a GT game, but that’s always been a matter of money. Looking at GT5, I know I have to get a wheel, because driving a car really doesn’t translate well to a controller. It can be done, sure. But, should it? hehe. To do the game justice, yeah, I’m going out and getting a decent setup that uses force feedback for simulated over/under steer.

Ooh GTHD, remember it well there was one bit that always got me, played GT HD endlessly when it was practically the only thing on the store for many, many months.
Good to see that like its predecessors in GT5 you can still use AI vehicles to help you corner easily getting to the head of the pack.
One thing I really hate about GT is that screeching noise, think its the worst and most unrealistic noise known to all of mankind… but that is seriously one stunning looking game, the rain was jawdropping and of course the rest of graphics are probably up there as best in class.

Maybe they are trying to make it like the Wilhelm Scream?

had to wiki it
wow – George Lucus really loves his library sound effects… interesting to hear it was used in RDR & Halo Reach, wonder if that was ironic use though?

It’s always used ironically. It’s kind of a movie industry in-joke which a lot of the public are in on too. I swear I noticed it in GoW3 too

There is a brilliant Android app which plays it whenever you throw or drop your phone. Funny but dangerous cos you end up tossing your expensive handset about!

Looks stunning!
The only sound I would want to hear in the tunnel is the sound of the 3.8L twin-turbo V6 ;)

Surely the roar of a classic Charger’s V8?

As long as you play in cockpit mode, which I dont like as I find it too invasive and ,for me, it doesn’t truly replicate the view you get whilst driving a car anyway.
