Sean Murray, composer behind Treyarch’s last Call of Duty, World at War, will be returning to score next week’s Black Ops, Activision has confirmed.
The soundtrack will be made available at the game’s launch on 9th October via digital download sites, with the album going for $11.99 in the States on iTunes with UK pricing yet to be confirmed.
Murray previously worked on music for Activision’s two PS2 True Crime games, as well as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Last year’s CoD game featured music from film veteran Hans Zimmer.
Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released on PS3, 360 and PS3 next Tuesday, with HMV offering it for £7.99 in return for your copy of Medal of Honor, and rumours today mentioning that Sainsbury’s will be offering their initial stock of the game for £25.

Quite expensive for atmospheric music! Especially when it doesnt really go with real life

“Needs more cowbell”
LOL, does it really? :D
JoshHood
Frankly, what doesn’t?

Blue Oyster Cult FTW ! Ha ha

I gotta fever… And the only cure. Is more Cowbell.

Gutted. Hans Zimmer did a fantastic job on MW2 and I would’ve thought they’d have used him again if possible. I’m a big fan of all of Zimmer’s work, particularly The Last Samurai!
Kovacs
Zimmer costs a bomb. Not that Activision can’t afford him.
Peco
I’m sure they could afford him but the thinking here is probably that composers don’t sell games, so might as well go for the cheaper option! Zimmer did a fine job on MW2, whereas I can’t remember the WAW score being particularly good.
JoshHood
I think Zimmer’s music worked brilliantly with the epicsplosionbomb that was MW2 – Black Ops looks to be something different to that.
SpikeyMikey23
can someone explain? the music is already done obviously… then why are they bringing in this guy?
Charmed_Fanatic
i think the story is just saying he is doing the music again … not he is doing it as a patch or something :P
bunimomike
He’s got his old playlist in Winamp and is about to hit Random then Burn to Disc so he fools us all into thinking he’s made something new. Cunning swine. Saying that, Five Star had impressive chart sales with basically the same track played at slightly different speeds over the course of their time in the media spotlight. :-)

COD Fanboy here: Consider it bought!…… :p

“Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released on PS3, 360 and PS3 next Tuesday…”
Personally, I think PS3 deserves to be mentioned twice in this sentence haha,
but seriously, it may be a typo? o.o
DRCD1
Pfffff… StarGate’s composer that they used for CoD 3 was way better. But the theme was clearly based of SG Atlantis’s theme, not that it is a bad thing.

@ scavenga “needs more cowbell” made me laugh!!! I asked in my morrisons today and the deputy manager said Black ops aint gonna be the £26 like MW2 was last year, she said it will be £37.99 or somewhere abouts :)

‘The soundtrack will be made available at the game’s launch on 9th October’
Thats funny, I thought it was available on the 9th of November not October – otherwise I would be playing it now! =]
