Second PSPgo Price-Cut Listing “an Error”

Though it’s probably a more appropriate price-point from a value perspective, Sony have confirmed to MCV that the apparent second UK PSPgo price-cut is an error. Originally dropped from a whopping £225 to £159.99 last month, Sony’s own website recently quoted a price of £129.99 for the troubled handheld.

SCE UK claim the price is incorrect, stating:

“It’s an error/problem with the website, and will be fixed today.”

At the time of writing, the device is still quoted at costing £129.99. We’re not sure if Sony will honour the erroneous amount if any intrepid bargain hunters were to swoop in and avail of the new price.

The apparent glitch in the Sony matrix resulted in many people thinking a PSP2 announcement was imminent. There goes that rumour.

  1. The price drop of £159 is having an effect with a few of my work mates asking me about the Go for their kids for christmasas they know i am a proud Go owner. This coupled with the free games offer has made this bit of kit more than tempting for many who had not looked at this little handheld before.

  2. Weird one buying something at a knockdown price because its going to be replaced sooner rather than later, sure you’ve got a bargain – but it will look a lot less like a bargain, when the new one is out and you can’t even take advantage of the ultra-cheap UMD back catalogue.

I sold my 2000 to purchase 2 Move sticks & Sports Champs, but the new GoW is tempting me to buy another, but sadly it won’t be a PSPgo unless its cheaper than I can buy 3000 for which in my mind is the more flexible option

  3. Although putting it down to £159 is a good move I do think that until its below the price of a 3000 bundle its not going to get anywhere. It ready has the “black sheep” reputation of the PSP family so it needs to be a bargin really. If your already a psp gamer with a good collection of UMDs, it will still be pointless even at £75.

  4. Before I knew how much the PSP Go was I was seriously thinking of getting one, and when I found out it was only £139 with 10 free games from Sony it seems like an obvious purchase. I know the d/loads are expensive compared to cheaper UMD’s but surely your making a big saving with 10 games? I am also very taken with the idea of getting back into comics with the comic store thing on PSN.

Oh and the front slides up & down…..SWEEEEEET!

  5. I’ll wait for the PSP2 before I buy another PSP.

  6. 2-4 week delay on orders from the Sony shop now (or so it says). Plenty of time for them to cancel if it does turn out to be a misprice

  7. i love that all the comments at the top of the page are very long

  8. i wish the pspgo was like 50 bucks cheaper… i’d buy one
