Thanks to Metal Gear Solid 4, a lot of PS3 gamers are no stranger to long cutscenes and dense dialogue segments, which might be a good thing when it comes time to play L.A. Noire. During an interview with IGN, head of Team Bondi, Brendan McNamara, had this to say.

“We captured over 50 hours worth of dialogue in total, all using MotionScan — it’s equivalent to about two full seasons of a TV show.

Each case has its own twists and turns depending on the choices you make, leading you down different paths on your way to cracking the case, giving you plenty of reasons to jump back in and replay the game.”

While it’s unlikely that all 50 hours will make the cut for the final product or that you’ll even get a chance to see it all in any one play-through, that’s still a hell of a lot of dialogue.

  1. It seems more similar to Heavy Rain than to GTA….

    • got nothing to do with GTA?

      • GTA series is synonymous with Rockstar games. Almost every time we hear of a new Rockstar game, people generally and automatically assume “Is it similar to GTA?”

      • why people think that is strange to me if it was a gta game they would release it as that.

  3. Holy crap. You only get this much dialogue in the older FF game mainly because they did not have voice actor. If they keep all of it then this could give MGS4 a run for it’s money.
I think i might take 2-3 weeks to finish 1 playthrough.

  4. It fits in with the style and nature of the game and we really should stop comparing it to GTA.

    • that what I think a lot of talking to find the clues & lies in the investigations will be nice change from the norm.

  5. Great, I hated all of the cutsceanes in MSG4, if you skip through them the gameplay segments are pretty short. hopefull L.A. Noire will be more forgiving

  7. I don’t mind long cut scenes, as long as they are well balanced with the amount of gameplay which I find games like MGS are, and as long as they are skipable, First and 2nd playthroughs are good but if indeed it does in a place in your ‘that’s a keeper’ collection you’re gonna wanna get over them asap by your third playthrough.

  8. Now this will be brilliant. Been waiting for this type of game in a long time. Mafia 2 was good, but I have high hopes on Rockstar L.A Noir.

  9. You’d probably only get to see 17 hours in one playthrough which means it’s going to be such a fantastic game. An improvement on the sort of game Heavy Rain was where you are more in control of the actions taking place and the story and graphics are much better. I can’t wait to play this, probably the best game of the year for me :)
