Apple stock slid 6% yesterday with news that the company’s enigmatic CEO, Steve Jobs, is taking a third leave of absence due to ill-health. No details were provided regarding the specific health problems in question, though Jobs has fought pancreatic cancer and underwent a liver transplant in the past.
Despite the temporary glitch in stock-price, Apple are set to announce an incredible 50% increase in quarterly sales today. In Jobs’ absence, Chief Operating Office chief Tim Cook will report the news to investors plus what the company plans to do with their $50+ billion cash stock-pile – if anything.
TheSixthAxis would like to wish Mr. Jobs well during his convalescence and a speedy recovery.

Get well soon Steve!
I want some more FW updates for my iphone!
Mike
4.2.5 in early Feb.
4.3 in early March time (when iPad 2 is released)
5.0 in June when iPhone 5 is released.
That’s according to some websites anyway. I hope that helps your FW hopes and dreams ;)

I thought they were only doing the White iphone4 this year in June, with the iPhone5 coming out next year?
Joe
thanks mate!
Mike
Not that I know of. The White iPhone 4 was meant to have released just after the initial release but has been dogged by delays. Apple musn’t like the colour white! The iPhone 5 is on course to be released in the summer. It’ll be using the new A5 processor which is dual core and 4x faster than the A4.

The white iPhone4 may come out when its released on Verizon in a couple of weeks.
The iPhone5 is a certainty for ~July

Someone is trying to annoy me as I have been given an iPad for free. Currently being used as a paperweight, bloody ridiculous thing.

Hehe, you could always try to sell it on eBay. That’s what I would try. ;)
Grey_Ghost13
Or give it away in a TSA comp, *nudge nudge wink wink* -make it one I can win please :)
Mike
Or just give it to me :-D No need for a nudge nudge, wink wink ;)

Time to buy some shares in apple.

A stock value dip, because the CEO’s sick? That’s a pretty hefty burden to bare for a company the size of Apple. Heh, I’m glad my company doesn’t suffer too much whenever I pull a sickie. Note: I’m not saying that’s what Steve Jobs is doing; obviously as he’s suffered from pancreatic cancer as well as having a liver transplant, it’s a bad way to be so I’d wish him all the best. I’m also not saying I have ever pulled a sickie.
On a side note, the hover-over comment on the Steve Jobs image made me chuckle :)

Awesome back-track there, dude.
;)

Thanks. You should see me pass my mistakes off as someone else’s fault at work. I mean, if I had to. Not that I ever have, or would.

Could an Apple without Jobsian tendencies do things in a slightly different way (not overnight obviously as its a behemoth).
I wonder if there’s warring faction on the board who have completely different visions and whilst Jobs is at the helm the status quo is maintained. Of course it would be hard to argue that Jobs has got anything wrong as they have soared to become the worlds largest tech company
bunimomike
Very much with you on this. Is any potential mutiny quelled with a few buried bodies each year? Apple has propelled Steve Jobs into such a position that the shares of the company alter when he takes a crap in the morning!
Quite incredible.

Poor man, pancreatic cancer is a frightening diagnosis on it’s own, not to mention having to undergo a liver transplant, especially so young. Here’s hoping this is an unrelated and less serious problem. I have just read that he was one of the founders of Pixar as well and executive producer of Toy Story! Now officially a legend in my books.
