By now you’ve surely seen the multiple looks we’ve offered regarding the new Dead Space iOS game, but the one thing we were never able to give you was an exact release date. We now know when that’s going to be: today. The game just recently went live on the app store for all you iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users out there. I’ve yet to play it myself (and I likely won’t get a chance since it’s only available for iProducts) but I have it under good authority that it plays as good as it looks… and it looks very good.

Anyone tried it yet? I’m too skint to lay down 4 quid before I know it’s not another game of the ilk of NFS Hot Pursuit or Driver on the iPhone.

It’s very good on the iPad. Intuitive controls and HUD just like the console version. Probably one of the best examples of how to capture the essence of a console game on the iDevice without losing something important or changing it altogether. It’s a very surprisingly awesome experience. Just make sure you wear headphones for a more immersive experience.

Bought it last night on the iPhone.
Works really well – seems like a nice story that runs alongside Dead Space 2.
Controls are probably the best that I’ve tried on the iPhone (for a FPS/Third Person Shooter), the graphics aren’t too bad and it captures the Dead Space feeling pretty well.
