During his presentation at Wednesday’s PlayStation Experience 2011, Managing Director Herman Hulst revealed that there’ll be a day one patch for Killzone 3 – although it wasn’t entirely clear what this patch might contain.
However, seeing as how Hulst also commented that his team will be combating any glitches and hacks as part of the long tail release of the game – assuring journalists and, by extension, gamers, that Killzone 3′s online multiplayer will be safe from those seeking to circumvent the rules – we can speculate that the update might be related.
You’ll remember the problems that befell older versions of Call of Duty with regards to hackers – let’s hope Sony’s flagship shooter doesn’t suffer the same fate.

Great to hear that they’re taking the whole piracy thing seriously. I just hope it works.

I hope to jump into online, it doesn’t bother me much either if there is a day one patch. I actively thank Guerilla for stopping users potentially exploiting the online modes – something that ruined parts of Call of Duty.

I remember there was a system in killzone 2, where people reported anyone using a deliberate glitch or hack in multiplayer. Expect the same system in killzone 3.

Hoping a hack will become a common day1/pre-release practice for all online gaming.
Once i reported some poor kz2 user by accident.
As muting each player individually(full mute this time plz) i pressed report accidentally, as mute & report are directly next to each other.
(i belive any online game thats offers chat, should be legally, if not morally obligated to incl a mute all.
Im now prude(not the point), but many times had family in the room, only to hear extremely offensive lng)

Now work on those spawn points and the tactician role yeah. The tactician doesnt have to be tactical anymore. Just stay the hell alive long enough to get one of the 3 spots up. Needs a limited amount of smoke spawns per team i think to mix things up (with limited protection to prevent campers too).

unlimited smoke spawns, surely this would increase chances of yourself spawning on top of or with enemy directly behind you.

erm, i said limited. 2 or 3 per team per warzone match. enough to make a difference but not make original spawns outcasts.

Maybe they’re waiting after they get data from the multiplayer demo.

Anyone know if uncharted 2 has had any hacking problems? As I was expecting them to target it after call of duty.

What I dont get about all this game hacking is that the PC has always been an open system, yet it doesnt have these problems (as far as Im aware), so how come this is just affecting the PS3? Have developers just been relying on the PS3′s security in the past and now that its down, their games are wide open?
As for the patch, nice that Guerilla are on the ball with this, as long its only related to the online portion of the game. If it applies to the SP side, then PS3 owners that arent connected to the Internet will be annoyed by this..
