PSN Offline Tomorrow – Scheduled Maintenance

The PSN Store Update might be a tricky one tomorrow, as it looks like Sony are pulling the Store offline for a good few hours just at the time when it normally goes live.

According to PlayStation, the service will be offline for “scheduled maintenance” from just after 4pm tomorrow until 3am on Thursday morning, GMT.

During the maintenance, you will be unable to access the following services:

  • PlayStation Store on PS3 and PSP.
  • PlayStation Network Account Management.
  • PlayStation Network Account Registration.

In addition, you will not be able to sign in to PlayStation Network from eu.playstation.com. If you wish to play online during the maintenance, Sony say, please ensure you sign in to PSN before 16:05 on Wednesday 9 March 2011.

Of course, you can still grab Trophies when you’re offline, and they’ll sync just fine when the PSN comes back online.

Still, bizarre timing, presumably not times set by SCEE.

  1. So, it’s time for a poor store update, or they want to torture us during the best update ever.

  2. My guess: “Guys, we really need to remove that divide by zero function that gets called every time a Call of Duty Map Pack is released.”

  3. I’m hardly ever logged out anyway.

  4. I don’t mind this. It’ll give me some time to catch up with my porn…

  5. Why the hell do Sony schedule updates at the most rediculous times? 4pm-1am is when they will see their bigges traffic flow! Strange, but then again, a lot fo the stuff Sony do is strange!

    • As mentioned above: SCEJ set the time. And this time is basically when most of NA are in school/work so … makes sense. If you’re in NA, that is.

      • and the east Asians and Japanese are sleeping.

      • But we’re not, we’re in Europe, so it makes no sense.

    • YOU’RE in Europe. So it makes no sense TO YOU. The updates are scheduled by the Japanese and they always cater to the NA market more.

      Fact of life.

      • it makes perfect sense actually, when you realise we’re simply not as important as their us and japanese customers, even though there are more of us than either of the other regions.

  6. Luckily enough Wednesday is date night! :)
Still usually like to take a look at what’s been released on the store though. :(

  7. For crying out loud Sony, you bunch of nose picking penis heads need to try rotating it so another continent gets this treatment for a change.

    • you know, it’s almost worth the psn downtime to read something that funny.

  8. Anyone know what’s dropping tomorrow?

I think Back to the Future is, and there was something else I read but can’t remember now!

    • i bet we still wont get the pink knight, seriously, scee is like the bermuda triangle when it comes to content, it gets anywhere near them and nobody knows what’s happened to it, it’ll probably all turn up at once with strange powers. obscure reference there. :)

    • Mortal Kombat demo for plus if i remember rightly.

  9. i just love how this is the one single area where sony treats the whole world as one region.
any other facet of the psn where the whole world being considered one region might actually benefit, they take a 19th century approach, you know when it used to take months to get goods from other countries round the world.
but here where it will adversely affect europe, they’re right there in the 21st century where you can send your product round the world in seconds.

so we have to lose the network at peak times so the japanese and americans aren’t inconvenienced yet we still have to wait months for content.

this is like a line from an itv sitcom, IE a joke that isn’t funny.

    • Typical Japanese sh*t. They still live in 19th century when it comes to marketing and customer relations.

  10. Damn, I get home like around 4-4:10 ish… usually don’t go on till half 4…
    Better be worthwhile maintence sony..
